    Pros

I currently work at Ecolab’s Headquarters in Minnesota. I originally pursued a career with Ecolab because it is a historically ethical company with that has values and morals that I could easily get behind. They care for their employees, focus on promoting internally, and moving associates around the company to get a better range of experiences and maintain job satisfaction. I have thoroughly enjoyed being introduced to Ecolab’s culture and learning more about the different ways to can get involved throughout the company.

    Cons

I was brought on as a contractor, which would be my only area of improvement for Ecolab. There are a lot of things that contractors do not have access to, and a various activities and on-boarding experiences that they are excluded from. However, this seems to be an area of improvement that is already on management’s radar and I have already seen some improvement on this.

    Advice to Management

I have had excellent experience with my managers and directors. They are receptive to new ideas and always make time to answer questions. That being said, keep up the good work!

    Pros

great work life balance, people are great, will move you around to give you experience.

    Cons

Can expect a 2% increase in salary yearly, with very little deviation from that. Will also pay you ~20% less than market price if you come up from within the company.

    Advice to Management

Pay for your talent. Do not put a higher price tag on outside talent vs. that which you have trained.

I have been working at Ecolab full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people are great and the work is challenging. They care a lot about their employees and strive to ensure a career path for those who want to continue to grow with the company. The pay is competitive and the benefits are good.

    Cons

Projects always bunch up at the end of the year which makes it hard to take time off during the holidays. It can be a very stressful environment as there are always a lot of high pressure, high priority projects. While this keeps things interesting, it doesn't allow for much work-life balance.

    Pros

a lot of in-company opportunity for someone looking at climbing the corporate ladder.
    good benefits
    on-site gym

    Cons

being an almost- monopoly, Ecolab hasn't adapted or changed its ways of working in decades.
it very much felt like an (white) old-men's club.

    Advice to Management

hire external ! bring in some fresh blood to shake up the culture and the mentality

I have been working at Ecolab full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Smart coworkers, growing company, great ERGs

    Cons

The expectation and workload vary wildly from division to division. Some functions keep highly skilled and smart workers at a trained monkey level. Others get inexperienced people in way over their head. Division support level is highly tied to the financial performance of the division (which means if your division isn't making great financial gains, you're going to have to work even harder with less support).

    Advice to Management

Don't make up work just to keep people busy - make the work that people do interesting and critical to the goals of the organization.
