I have been working at Ecolab full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work from home. Bosses are so lazy and disconnected you will never see them as long as your customers don't call and complain about you.

    Cons

On call 24/7 They have a poor understanding of individual state laws pertaining to employee rights. Such as sick time, vacation carry over etc.
In response to the new legislation regarding salary exempt status they made everyone hourly with a variable rate and used it as an oppurtunity to lower wages by about 10% for the same production we were doing even though they posted over 6 billion in profits in 2015.
They have a belief that management doesnt need to know pest control, just how to manage people
They cater to corporate customers offering free service off of our sweat. This hurts more now with the new variable rate that is tied into our invoiving production.
       Run, dont walk.

    Advice to Management

Look at where your money comes from. No one can afford the kind of pay cuts you just approved for no good reason. Greed will get you.

I have been working at Ecolab (More than a year)

    Pros

Company provides vehicle, gas card, laptop, hot spot, cell allowance,

    Cons

Income is capped by "territory realignment". If you grow your territory too much, the territory is "realigned" by giving some of it to another account manager.

    Advice to Management

Rethink compensation scheme for Account Managers

I worked at Ecolab full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

New car, new tablet pc, ability to work from home

    Cons

There was hardly any work life balance when I worked here. You have equipment and products in your home which take over your space if you don't have a large enough home for it. I took over a territory that had no attention given to it so there were lots of problems and expectations from the customers that were not realistic.

The company is not diverse, I faced some really unique situations while working here and they don't do anything to support their new hires once they are given a territory. You are expected to swim in an uncomfortable environment filled with stressful situations. Corporate sales promises that the TM can do anything which puts stress on you when you're called at 10pm at night to come look at their dish machine for service.

There were no training, advancement or collateral duty assignments with this role and you're pretty much stuck until you move up in some way.

    Advice to Management

Work on engaging your younger personnel. We like to feel included and apart of the mission. Have some opportunity for us to assist on work groups, projects etc.

I worked at Ecolab full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Company Vehicle with all expenses paid.
Good not Great Benefits. Benefits are changing (not for the better) frequently.

    Cons

High Pressure to made additional sales daily/weekly/monthly/yearly! Like many jobs, it becomes very repetitive and OLD! Causes some reps to sell items, which include chemicals and related products that aren't needed. Ecolab management runs on the EPS mindset. While they want to take care of the customer, it's all with the Stock Market in mind. This company works employees to the bone. Very poor work/life balance. This means that you're on call 24/7/365 unless you have another associate cover for you. This can be difficult. You're on call until at least 11PM daily unless it's a large customer .. Corporate will call you at any time of the night! That SUCKS!! Actually there are to many cons to list!!!

    Advice to Management

Wake UP ... This is 2016! You have trouble keeping employees because you don't treat them like you want to be treated! The on call issue needs to be modified. Upper management would just rather leave things the way they've been for decades without recognizing things have changed in the last 1/2 century!

I worked at Ecolab full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

New equipment and a Service vehicle (F 150 pick up) was provided. There is not really much else to say that is positive.

    Cons

This company went to a "variable hourly pay rate" based on productivity. This sounds like some sort of "Chinese overtime". I wonder what they paid the accountant who came up with this idea, doubt it was a variable hourly pay rate.

    Advice to Management

    Just pay an hourly rate.

    Pros

All tools necessary to achieve quotas. Car allowance pc with advanced Sales force CRM organization tools. Cutting edge technology. Great systems in place.

    Cons

None, very organized and growth oriented. Quota could be challenging because market seems like business is already in place. New business is a hunt.

    Advice to Management

    Too new to know

    Pros

    none at all, all cons

    Cons

work you till you are dead and finds ways to take money from your check, never get raises, nothing but a brown nosing environment is what they love. they act as if they care about employees and their families but it is a complete lie!!!

    Advice to Management

treat your employees with gratitude and respect!!! stop treating employees like slaves. the CEO makes millions in salary and pays himself more millions in bonuses and pays the workers crumbs. Take notice of all the lawsuits against the company and see how employees are treated.
