RecommendsPositive OutlookI have been working at Ecological Society of America full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
-Great work environment; easy-going and respectful colleagues, clear direction from management. -Generous benefits; comprehensive insurance, plenty of vacation and sick time, 10% matching contribution to retirement.
Cons
-Working remotely is not for everyone. I don't mind the absence of a physical publications office, or working from home, but some may.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo opinion of CEOI worked at Ecological Society of America for more than 5 years
Pros
It's a small office, where it's easy to get to know all your co-workers. It's a friendly place mostly staffed by people who really care about their work, individual contributions are valued, and some roles and regulations can be flexible.
Cons
Because it's such a small office, there is little room for advancement and basically no training except the very piecemeal. Information on old and elaborate systems is heavily siloed and in some cases institutional memory has lost it completely, and some managers either provide very little guidance or micromanage heavily.

RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Ecological Society of America full-time for less than a year
Pros
Lots of opportunity, great mission, but frequently changing priorities - you need to be flexible and focused to do well here. Great benefits. Lots of vacation and sick time. Decent health benefits and good 403(b) contribution.
Cons
lots of recent changes - not a bad thing IMO - but you have to have a stomach for it

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo opinion of CEOI worked at Ecological Society of America full-time
Pros
Hands off approach to work.
Cons
Where to start. Senior staff gossip about their staff openly and loudly, for their interns and other staff members. Humiliation and bullying is rampant. Unprofessional, stay away.

Pros
-Great work environment -Management is helpful and wants you to thrive -Flexible hours -Wide range of project to work on -Small workforce; everyone knows and is pleasant with everyone else
Cons
-Very little room for growth -Salary/compensation is a little lacking, but the upward momentum will hopefully change that for future employees -I haven't been here too long, but I can't honestly think of anything else wrong with the company at this point in time.
