I worked at Economists Inc full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Warm office culture, work is varied and spans multiple industries, excellent hard skills development.

    Cons

Variable workflow due to consulting. Can lead to lots of (paid) OT.

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Build excel skills and learn Stata

    Cons

No professional development, no advancement opportunities, job responsibilities grow stale after a few months. Lack of involvement of management for research associates. Terrible hours -could be bored watching Netflix for 40 hours or under appreciated working for 80 hours any given week.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of two year limit, actually get to know RAs and understand their strengths and weaknesses.

    Pros

It is an amazing place to work. It was a pleasure working with some of the brightest and friendliest people I know. All of the economists are top-notch and act as both your boss and mentor. It may be one of the best jobs out of college you could possibly have.

    Cons

Sometimes the workload can be light given the amount of cases they are working on. However, they are cognizant of this and let you do whatever you want during your free time.

    Advice to Management

I really wish most other small business were as amazing. Please continue to be some of the smartest and nicest people in the room.

I have been working at Economists Inc full-time

    Pros

Friendly people. World class skills. Brilliant founders. True commitment to ethical standards and fostering a nurturing and flexible environment for new employees. The company tries hard to accommodate each economist's preferences wrt work life balance.

    Cons

When there are case related deadlines, the company expects economists and other professional employees to put in extra time if necessary. Although the company will accommodate academic research by offering time, money and staff support, EI is a commercial enterprise. Client work gets priority when resources are scarce.

    Advice to Management

Keep up what you're doing in terms of the overall work environment, but do better at letting applicants know the difference between EI and other places.

    Pros

A great community of research associates and overall support from peers. A week of in depth tutorials prepares new associates for future tasks. Good overtime benefits.

    Cons

A significant amount of overtime work when assigned to certain projects. Tasks can vary drastically depending on the project's subject matter, which can be challenging to understand and learn quickly.

    Pros

good experience; position lasts for two years but need to know what you want to do (go to b-school, law school, etc.) quickly after joining (a year or so); good potential to make extra cash with overtime; good young group of colleagues--most of same caliber as you (though there are always some duds--you can figure it out quickly)

    Cons

potential for long hours depending on caseload; type of work varies by economist, some hands-on, some not-so-much

    Advice to Management

    more recognition for talent;
