    The Best Among Agencies

May 4, 2015 - Vice President Health in Chicago, IL
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Senior management is professional and client focused. The firm invests in its staff. Great clients.

    Cons

Like all agencies work life balance can be tough but you don't work in an agency environment for a cushy life. You go because you get incredible experience with blue chip clients. Edelman has that.

Edelman has incredible work life balance that is superior to any other similar company in the industry. The employees are truly valued and there are endless opportunities for growth and mobility. Every department is full of smart, driven, creative employees who push each other to produce better work. Incredible culture, benefits, company values and just a great place to work overall!

Great global company, awful managers in Germany

Feb 11, 2017 - Account Director in Berlin
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Edelman globally has great clients and exciting projects, incredibly talented and passionate colleagues with a high level of professionalism. The bigger idea that Edelman stands for is why I am giving 3 stars.

    Cons

I wish the German management were more professional, less opportunistic and had a clear vision. I get assigned to totally random accounts and feel like I am wasting my talent. The merger with ergo was handled very badly. The work cultures don't match and we have a very different understanding of client service. This has led to a disastrous impact on my work life balance and colleagues on both sides are fleeing the company.

    Edelman Response

    Edelman

Thank you for your response. It is encouraging to read about your respect for your fellow talented and passionate colleagues. Of course, I am concerned to read about your thoughts on the management team and the handling of the merger between Edelman and Ergo. As a business we have completed a number of mergers over the years across the globe, which require a lot of investment of time to ensure a smooth integration. During this process there are always challenges to overcome and a settling in period as the two organisations come together to form one cohesive business. I would strongly suggest that you speak to your local HR team to discuss your thoughts in more depth. I am also more than happy to speak to you; please do contact me on David.Fackney@edelman. Thank you, David Fackney, Europe HR Director

Be very cautious of the Dallas office

    Nov 6, 2016 -
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - Big name agency with terrific reputation within the big cities - NYC and Chicago - Big name brand clients, which is nice for resume - Good benefits from corporate HQ - Access to professionals and experts in other offices and regions

    Cons

    - Lack of true leadership and inspiration; primary mode of management is intimidation - Open insults of team members at all levels by top management - Lip service of work/life balance; to be successful you must choose to work round the clock

    Edelman Response

    Edelman

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It's a priority for Edelman leaders to create a positive environment where our employees can thrive, and where the sometimes long hours spent delivering results for our clients are balanced by support for our employees' personal ambitions. I'm disappointed to hear that you didn't experience that in Dallas, as I know the team there has made efforts to build a culture that's integrated and fun. We strive to grow from feedback and would welcome the chance to learn more about how you think we can do better. Please feel free to contact me directly at maria.okeeffe@edelman.com.

Excellent company with wonderful upper management

May 12, 2015 - Account Executive in Seattle, WA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Edelman delivers top-notch work to its clients. Working here is an opportunity to grow your network and work with some of the top people in the field. Edelman Seattle does a nice job of celebrating wins and ensuring teams mingle with each other. The benefits are wonderful too

    Cons

    - Work/life balance can be difficult but Edelman is doing its best to be aware of needs - Your happiness will depend a lot on the account that you're on and the client that you work with.

    Happy to be here

Dec 6, 2015 - Junior Project Manager in New York, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Amazing culture; unbelievably smart people. I am constantly learning and growing and being challenged with new projects.

    Cons

Semi difficult work life balance because clientele is some of the biggest and best in the world. These brands never sleep, so you're constantly on call. Cons of being the best at what you do.

You learn a lot but you need to work hard

Jul 1, 2018 - Associate Director in London, England
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

You learn a lot fast as you are given opportunities here to work on big campaigns and across a range of disciplines. Your peers and team will largely be fantastic and become a family.

    Cons

Bad work life balance and if you’re on the Brand team you will frequently be under resourced. There are a few people that are rude and too old school but there aren’t many left.

    Edelman Digital New Hire Experience

Nov 12, 2012 - Digital Account Services in New York, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

In the short time I have been here (~4 months) I have already grown to love the company culture. Very rarely is the first answer 'No'. It is clear your experience here is what you make of it. This and the work/life balance will (hopefully) have me calling Edelman home for years to come.

    Cons

There seems to be some confusion among titles and responsibilities. Some people who you would assume have higher titles don't, while others who may not seem as advance do have a higher title.
