I worked at Eden Brown full-time

    Pros

Can be fun place to work with good incentives. Commission structure is also good.

    Cons

With a new VC involved it is all about the growth and profitability of the business. In essence that is fine but targets are often unrealistic so you can become immediately under pressure. With the Directors being very ruthless with underperformers and limited training available staff turnover is high. Many of the good managers have left in the churn.

    Advice to Management

Eden Brown / Eden Brown Synergy is seen as the failing part of the Group yet it has many of the best consultants. Invest and back the teams as many are very loyal to the cause.

I have been working at Eden Brown full-time

    Pros

Amazing manager, positive attitude, great team, new office, relaxed environment. Room to grow

    Cons

The plant died and get too much light in through the new big windows

    Advice to Management

Keep being supportive, open to ideas, being positive and encouraging staff. Its a great environment with lots of respect. Phil manages a couple of offices and does a great job. Can be very approachable and as long as you work hard you can play hard. Andy has been amazing always listens and is supportive as well as being part of the team. Management makes all the difference to a work place and Andy is definitely up there with the best. You get treated like an adult and its a great environment to be in. We are still in a sales role so KPIs are obviously going to be there so reading previous comments doesn't sit right with me as seem to be very biased.

I have been working at Eden Brown full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Only been here six months but in that time I've really enjoyed the place. There was a bit of unrest at first with a new CEO in place but that's settling down now and our floor (there are about 6 teams on it) just feels better and better.

Commissions is good enough, lots of little sales incentives to keep you going and the team managers seem to be behind the consultants in most cases. Senior management and CEO are available when in the office and the training is excellent with loads of opportunities for learning (although you do have to chase it yourself as it isn't as well marketed as it might be given what's available).

Good vibe otherwise - seems to meet the "work hard, play hard" criteria that recruiters bang in about and they like to celebrate successes, which is nice!!

    Cons

There been quite a high t'over of staff with new management but that seems to be settling down now.

Higher commission brackets would be good for accelerated income for big achievement and they could communicate their benefits a lot better - they've got loads of stuff available but you only find out by word of mouth (they're intranet is a pretty poor). Database is also a bit dated although it functions fine.

    Advice to Management

As a new recruit induction could be better and redo your intranet as it would make everyone's lives easier. Also, can you communicate your incentives with a bit more notice!

    Pros

    • Commission structure and pay

    No other Pro's to advise

    Cons

    • Management promotions who never billed and treat people like rubbish.
    • Shocking behaviour towards women in the office
    • Ignorance to staff and issues you face
    • Development and training – non Existent
    • Promotions – Only if you are liked by members of the senior team

    Advice to Management

If there is a massive issue around retention, speak to the staff members who have left and understand the major issue you are facing in the Birmingham branch. Do not promote un worthy members of staff. Resolve issues rather than ignoring and berating staff members who raise them.

    Pros

EBS really is a great company to work with. You are treated like an adult and not micro managed. All the tools are here and in place for you to manage and grow as a successful recruitment consultant. The support available is fantastic and the people themselves are lovely!
As with every company EBS has undergone changes, but I believe for the better. Emphasis and encouragement is given to everyone to be the best they can.

    Cons

Great company - I believe there are no cons

I worked at Eden Brown full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Of the very few positive experiences, I'd say that the working environment at Eden Brown made me more of a resilient person.

    Cons

Strong "Old Boy's Club" culture throughout higher management, which filters down to an every man for himself environment. Hardly the setting they should bringing in or training new recruiters, which they so often do as it seems that any consultant with half a brain would run for the hills at interview.
Think of the all the horrible things the general public say or think about your stereotypical recruiter, then imagine an office full of them... run by pompous replicas.

Could have tolerated it for another couple of years if I wasn't paid peanuts and the commission scheme was actually worth striving for.

    Advice to Management

Give up and retire... the company isn't even doing that well.

I worked at Eden Brown (Less than a year)

    Pros

EDEN BROWN SYNERGY - The consultant I had was very supportive throughout my contract however when this was ended I was treated very poorly by the Company at management level.

    Cons

EDEN BROWN SYNERGY - The company are refusing to pay mileage owed from before my contract ended. This has always been paid for lump sum miles and now management are saying that this needs to be itemised. The director / associate directors are very unsupportive in their manner when the contract ends. It feels like the company are only interested in 'workers' whilst they are earning money, and are negligent in their actions towards them afterwards. Advise any future workers to ensure that all expenses are claimed on an ongoing basis and not to rely on any support afterwards should your contract be terminated. Often say there is no other work available despite other agency's stating they have roles. Try other agencies before going to this one.

    Advice to Management

EDEN BROWN SYNERGY - Management need to ensure that workers are supported before, during, and after contracts and treat them with respect. Workers are honest hardworking individuals who need to be treated well whether they are working for the company or not.

I have been working at Eden Brown full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good camaraderie amongst consultants within the business.
Also allow you both the freedom and support to develop into the successful consultant you want to be. They took me on as a graduate with no recruitment experience and helped be achieve a long term ambition to become a manager.
Well established business with experienced experts in respective sectors
Good quarterly and annual incentives including overseas trips.
Good consultants will go far and all consultants will get a lot of support. Commission structure is uncapped and favours those who put the effort in.

    Cons

    Negative Attitudes amongst consultants:
You get out of recruitment what you put and a small minority expect the world for little effort. Negativity can be down to all sorts ie personal problems, market changes etc. but I have to say Eden Brown do a lot to support and keep people upbeat regardless of the circumstances.

    Advice to Management

Internal changes within the business keeps it current, dynamic and profitable yet too many can appear unsettling to some.

I have been working at Eden Brown full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I am happy to recommend Eden Brown as a great place to work regardless of your experience level.

They have a great continuous professional development department, where the courses are designed and delivered by respected industry professionals.

The resources on offer to carry out your work are excellent with no expenses spared on advertisement etc.

The management team are very supportive and promote a strong team working culture, which is the fabric of this business.

There are plenty of opportunities to progress your career if you apply yourself the right way.

There is also some great incentives to be had, such as weekends away to Malta and other European locations, day outs to five star restaurants and race days at Ascot, Lingfield etc.

    Cons

None that I can think of, it's a good place to work.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.
