I have been working at Education Development Center, Inc. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

EDC is full of smart, enthusiastic colleagues. The organization has excellent benefits, a flexible environment, and it's all about socially responsible work. People at EDC are committed to making the world a better place through their projects.

    Cons

I have no downsides to share when it comes to working at EDC. I suppose one challenge for some people would be that there is no convenient public transportation.

    Pros

Collegial, friendly, and supportive work environment with lots of flexibility and opportunities to engage in interesting and relevant projects.

    Cons

Like any job that depends on securing grant money, there is always the potential that your job (or a substantial part of your daily work if you are on multiple projects) will be gone in six months, one year, etc. With that said, most people I knew at EDC were successful obtaining multi-year grants and had been at EDC for 10+ years.

I worked at Education Development Center, Inc. (More than a year)

    Pros

Really good environment. I enjoyed working there.

    Cons

The Organization's International Division seemed to be struggling at that time. Not sure how well they're doing now as that was 2+ years ago.

I worked at Education Development Center, Inc. full-time

    Pros

Great hands on, applied working environment. Very collaborative staff and international travel opportunities. Working environment is interdisciplinary and lots of cross divisional synergy.

    Cons

Low salaries to junior employees, and slow advancement process. At times you feel stuck in your role with limited opportunity for promotion. Little turnover, so openings are not available as much as you would like.

    Advice to Management

Create a more dynamic advancement process that values innovation and young talent. Create a pay structure for junior project staff that will attract top talent and make employees feel good about their compensation package.
