    Pros

Benefits can be good. They let you attend one of the universities for free at the undergrad level. Team outings are fun.

    Cons

Numbers driven, production means more than the person working. Stressful everyday. Hard to get promoted. The motto has been “do more with less”.

I worked at Education Management Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

the salary was very good at the time of my hire, but i understand its been lowered since i left.

    Cons

HIGH HIGH HIGH turn over. Out of the 11 people i was hired on with, only 1 is currently still there. the hours stink, 9-6 gives you no life. they expect you to arrive around 830 and leave around 615. you can log off at 6, but people give you looks. Management is very weak. I was meeting with my manager on a biweekly basis, going over plans to become a manager, and out of nowhere i was fired. They dont care about employees or students, they only care about $$. Its my biggest career decision regret, joining this company. I worked for Argosy. I hope they read this and make changes, but from everything ive read and heard, they never do.

    Advice to Management

Stop pressuring students into schools they cant afford or dont need. Actually care about your employees, dont just fake it.

I have been working at Education Management Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Two Louie's is across the street and there is a good coffee place nearby.

    Cons

Absolutely everything about this place makes me cringe. Being micro managed doesn't even describe how management is here. Managers force us to scam students and threaten that we will lose our jobs if we don't force or trick students into starting school. Management here is a complete joke. This job is all about numbers and money and nothing else. The company does not value its employees whatsoever. We are treated like dirt and are scolded, degraded, and threatened almost every day. There is no room for growth here and the business model is a complete failure. I wish this company would've gotten shut down after they were sued and went bankrupt. This place makes me depressed and the only thing keeping me here is the paycheck...but it is not even worth it anymore.

    Pros

They used to pay well but management has taken ALL perks away... except for management's bonuses.

    Cons

It's only a matter of time before this place closes for good.

    Advice to Management

Stop rewarding the butt kissers. You will have no one left to do the work!

I worked at Education Management Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Many good people work at EDMC. Pleasant work environment in most areas.

    Cons

Due to the high turnover at EDMC many under qualified people were promoted from within. I came to the organization with a wealth of experience and knowledge. I was viewed as a threat to my supervisor's skill set. A very toxic and unprofessional individual with a low emotional IQ. Briefly, my work was sabotaged and I was defamed. My supervisor's supervisor was aware of the situation and did nothing to correct matters . . . a co-conspirator you could say. With astronomical turnover it's difficult to fathom why the organization would allow this to occur.

    Advice to Management

To the new owners of EDMC - establish employee surveys to gain a perspective of how middle management is functioning. Seek out the rot and surgically remove it - you won't have to sniff very hard to uncover it.

None that I can think of

    Cons

Favoritism, politics, backstabbing. There is not enough room here to fully describe how bad it is.

    Advice to Management

Quit and shut down the company

I worked at Education Management Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is a steady flow of work.
    Located on bus route.
    Near Starbucks.

    Cons

Management has their favorites and if you're not one of them, be prepared to be terminated. Executives travel constantly instead of using conference calls or video calling which exhausts the budget. No raises for employees in many years because there's no money (they say). People are laid off on a regular basis but no one tells the rest of the staff (it's a secret for some reason.) I'm not a hateful ex-employee. I loved my job. But I was not a favorite of management and became a victim of the most recent unnecessary layoff so I got the axe. It happens. No big deal. But I feel bad for the students who are attending a school that has a severe lack of faculty which will impede their education.

    Advice to Management

Cut your spending and use some of it to keep the staff employed. A Christmas bonus (or even a cheap party) would be nice once in awhile. While you're relaxing in limos, the staff are going years without a pay increase. Fire the high level management instead of cutting the worker bees.
