    Pros

Only pro was the okay pay and people on your level that you worked with for the most part. But is that worth sacrificing your morals. That's up to you.

    Cons

To keep it short and simple upper management did not care about there employees. In consisted of a club of people who only looked for themselves who treated there employees like pawns. The average tenure was less than a year there because if you didn't cut it you were gone. And this is was college admissions. They tried to act like something they were not and constantly lied to there employees.

    Advice to Management

Start all over and rethink the nature of how you run your business. But who would care. Humans are naturally selfish.

I have been working at Education Management Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

pay, proximity, reputation for psychology programs

    Cons

have to drink the Kool-Aid to survive mentally, very behind technologically speaking, very limited degree selection, teams act like high school cliques, racial favoritism (seem to prefer blacks), only one shift available, no overtime, crammed cubicles, building's too small in comparison to what they need to accommodate, butt-kissers get ahead quickest, stupid and nitpicky regulations as far as what you can say to students, rules change constantly, training is not articulate or conveyed very well, nor is it thorough/sufficient. You go onto the team having to ask for help constantly.

    Advice to Management

Stop expecting people to blend in with the popular people to avoid making waves, appreciate diversity amongst reps, provide surveys for MANAGERS, as very few are effective or respectable, avoid nepotism, grow some intestinal fortitude when it comes to being firm, fair and consistent and KNOW the answers your reps ask rather than bs'ing about how you'll find out if you don't know and then never get back with the rep! Be willing to do whatever you ask your reps to do rather than leaving early constantly but complaining about reps doing the same, or coming in late and complaining about reps doing the same. LEAD BY EXAMPLE!!!

Complete elimination of employees retirement benifits to save $

    Pros

Good work force, lower management excellent work with, good product & presentation material, very through training on the front end.

    Cons

Upper management only cares about the number, no concern tot he reps or the student, poor training on the back end like the details of enrollment, financial aid & specific documents. Compliance department are head hunters, looking for any reason to get you fired, all calls recorded & mentored. I personally found them to be non-compliance but nothing is done about that. A lot of micro management.

    Advice to Management

Back off on pushing the student into class, it is better to have the student attend for the right reasons, not just so you can make a plan. Please be honest with the admissions representatives & don't lie to them!

I have been working at Education Management Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you make it to your one year anniversary then you receive a $5,000 raise. The benefits are pretty good.

    Cons

The goals set by the company are unrealistic, management is terrible, and it's very stressful relying on unreliable people to meet your goals every month because if you don't then you'll be let go from the company.

    Advice to Management

Be realistic and give positive feedback to your teams.

    Advice to Management

Need to restructure the service provided from ground up. Evaluate staff and processes from top down.
