I have been working at EducationWorks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pros are as follows, you will meet a plethora of amazing people while you are here! The children you service become apart of you, as well as building lasting professional relationships with school partners.

    Cons

Downside is along with the overal "ELITIST" narcissistic personalities in management, success is largely based on who likes you! The mask of ugliness is revealed when you see staff members rolling their eyes at each other in the office. Many of the new team members have no clue of what to do or how to lead. Instead your spoken to like a dog and berated daily.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the cliques and girlfriend circle! Listen to your staff! Get rid of the nasty managers you have! They are catty, clique driven and some of the most disgusting personalities I ever met in my life!

I worked at EducationWorks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great to move around and stay active working with the kids. Working at the company was Conducive to learning new skills, as they promoted spending time exploring new mediums for personal growth.

    Cons

I was an AmeriCorps member so living in the pay stipend through the AmeriCorps program was rough , but expected.

I have been working at EducationWorks (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Friendships and family-oriented atmosphere. Most of the people that work there are there because they truly love working with youth and want to see them succeed.

    Cons

New management staff are making too many changes very quickly. Changed the organization's colors and logos three times in the past year as though they are not sure what they should be. Terminated employees with no notice and without truly thinking things through, because they ended up hiring people to replace them in the end. Benefits are not as good as they once were: no matching on the 401K, no tuition reimbursement, and no raises in 10 years -- just cost of living adjustments.

    Advice to Management

Take a closer look at your current employees and consider them for promotions before looking outside the organization. When looking to fill positions, open them up to current employees too, not just people you know. You have a lot of talent within the organization, be fair!

I worked at EducationWorks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Educationworks training was the best they prepared you for the job and more. It gave the people that worked for them a great chance to advance in the company at that time.

    Cons

They are going through a change that does not benefit the people that they serve.

    Advice to Management

Stand by the people that you supervise because they are the face of the company not the managers sitting in the main office.

    Pros

Good overall vision and goals that focused on serving youth and families. Lots of opportunities for professional development.

    Cons

Work was too dependent upon funding from grants and contracts with the school district or city which could change from year to year. Disconnect between some higher level staff and front line staff.

    Advice to Management

Diversify sources of funding to include more individual donors and large gifts that could allow the agency to implement its mission without being driven by changing funding priorities within the city and region.
