I worked at Educational Service District 112 full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Decent retirement and health benefits.

    Cons

Salaried employees working at community locations get little support from administrators. Directors made to work 50-60 hours on salary with no chance of overtime. Directors expected to take on multiple positions and cover multiple work loads and program requirements because of consistently understaffed programs. Directors instructed to break state licensing rules because there are not enough qualified staff to support...

    Advice to Management

More support needed for staff working in the field. More involvement needed in staffing programs and centers so that directors can actually do their jobs and meet basic licensing standards. Perhaps administrators should actually come and work at centers for a week every year in order to see the demands of the job and the complexity of providing services to children and families with multiple risk factors.

I have been working at Educational Service District 112 full-time

    Pros

Job Security and if you lie and manipulate, you could have great potential for advancement.

    Cons

Low Pay, and you will work even more than you are paid to work, poor morale, administration makes proportionally higher salaries than those who actually work in education.

I worked at Educational Service District 112 full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Salary. Benefits aren't that great.

    Cons

Only administrators are heard. All staff out at schools must fend for themselves against angry principals and superintendents. No support for teacher viewpoint. Too scared of lawsuits so won't listen to issues going on. Keep your mouth shut and make your district and us at ESD happy all on limited funding. No union for teachers so you are a target and a scapegoat.

    Advice to Management

You are a corporation! You have lost the point that it is supposed to be about serving students and helping out your staff so that they can adequately care for their students.

I worked at Educational Service District 112 full-time

    Pros

They provide decent pay and benefits, many years of slow and steady growth, large variety of nice professionals with different skill sets. Most managers seem to care about the staff they supervise and the programs they operate.

    Cons

A lot of recent management changes causing uncertainty. Largely a grant funded company so money and jobs come and go, departments with large money grants get all the attention, people in dying grant programs get overshadowed and left to fade away. Not much opportunity for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Management should try to create more internal advancement opportunities and create more work / life flexibility options for the employees.

I worked at Educational Service District 112 full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

When working off site you were given the ability to make decisions without constant judgement. They had good health incentives and wanted give everyone encouragement to be heathy.

    Cons

Lots of micro managing in the office. There were also lots of assumptions without actually asking.

    Advice to Management

Have more faith in the people you chose to hire and remember you chose them for a reason.

I have been working at Educational Service District 112

    Pros

The ESD 112 accepted all my years of employment when I joined them. They also count these years of experience toward my seniority, reducing my chance of being let go. This was a huge incentive to me in these tough economic times when so many teachers are being cut.

    Cons

It is sometimes difficult to work for both the ESD 112 and the local district to which you are assigned. You actually have two bosses and you will develop some political savvy out of necessity.

    Advice to Management

Be open to new ideas and allow teachers the opportunities to improve themselves.

I worked at Educational Service District 112 full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

high expectations and high quality of work. Teams are professional and most employees are highly motivated.

    Cons

Very few opportunities to move up, higher level management positions are quite gridlocked. No real interest in appealing to younger workers and incorporating new ideas. Paternalistic culture, superintendant and cabinet members use power and fear and to not encourage input from employees.

    Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities for successful employees to contribute to the direction of the organization
