Company facing headwinds now
Jan 1, 2018 - Anonymous Employee in Princeton, NJRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Beautiful campus in Princeton, passionate, mission-driven culture. People work hard to unlock better ways to assess knowledge in a fair, equal manner that gives everyone their best chance at success. Many departments have a generous work from home policy.
Cons
Can be hidebound and bureaucratic. Company's core brands are suffering. Staff is shrinking, which means an ever-increasing workload for those still there. Work from home policies are uneven and at the whim of managers. This causes some resentment for those rarely allowed to take advantage.

Pros
The Direct Deposit and ability to work from home is very nice.
Cons
Some of the scoring leaders are a bit too hands on, they start calling within minutes of the shift starting and demand to know reasons for even a couple minutes tardy. The shift work is annoying because it matches east coast time only, which limits your ability to work. They also pay twice a month but way off any kind of predictable schedule. I had to contact them to find out the schedule after my middle of the month paycheck came at almost the end of the month.

Pros
Laid back environment Beautiful Campus atmosphere in Princeton Smart people abound Job security - they never fire anyone
Cons
So laid back that they NEVER get rid of dead wood, resulting in a culture of inertia. Executive leadership doesn't insist on adult behavior from middle management, turf wars and infighting impede constructive progress No one is held accountable for failure, instead failures are blamed on vendors or other departments. No one challenges this deflection Stuck in a technology rut, lip service paid to modernizing Work from home is too new and fancy. You have to be sitting in front of your boss or you are a failure.

Pros
In 2004, I became disabled with a debilitating chronic illness. I left my full time corporate job and have since worked primarily part time work from home jobs. The pay is much less than I was making in the corporate world, but it is clearly defined from the start. The work is interesting and seasonal. I would not rely on this job for consistent income. I have worked at ETS for 8 years. Most projects were seasonal and that was fine for my needs. Recently, I wanted to obtain more consistent part time income and certified for a project that promised more year round work. Unfortunately, the project has more than enough raters and I have found it difficult nigh impossible to get hours. (Hours are submitted one month in advance, you are then confirmed based on your availability). The company has always been great about letting me know which projects to apply for via email. However, you still have to certify for the project. Payments are direct deposit every two weeks and I have never had an issue with my pay.

Pros
Work from home and schedule flexibility.
Cons
In the 10 years I've worked for ETS, the company has steadily declined. The recent pay cut perfectly exemplifies the lack of ethics and sound judgment that permeates ETS management.

Pros
Work from home and very convenient
Cons
Salary quite low considering the professional and academic requirements Most scoring leaders are helpful however, few can be condescending treating raters as children/students.

Wonderful to work from home and still be active in education.
Cons
ETS offers too few shifts. I check for confirmed shifts every day. I'm trying to be responsible, you aren't respecting my time.
