I have been working at Edward Jones as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Privately owned, so the business environment is so much different catering to both the employees and the clients
FACD training program is world-class, there is nothing like it for recent college grads
Lots of opportunities as average advisor age is about 50, and they are on track to hiring more than 1000 advisors a yr
Compensation is what you make of it, your work will directly reflect in your pay. 100k to 300k a yr is normal in this company
Very personal, stress face to face meetings with clients which they value so much. You will make many friends of them
Diversification trips are one of many ways you are compensated as an FA, and the trips look absolutley amazing

    Cons

Sort of old-fashioned in business plan but it works for them and creates more valued relationships
Very hot when trying to door knock in the summer in Florida.

I worked at Edward Jones full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Structure is a plus. Known training Company.

    Cons

Constant threats to fire Advisors. I heard more than 5-10 times a day... if you do ........ you will be fired...

    Advice to Management

Don't hold your winners back with constant threats of termination. I left EJ on my own. Was never even reprimanded. Going to work and hearing multiple times a day...... if you do this... you will be fired... simply got old. Horrible work environment.

Don't put FA's in with a training FA who is obviously directly competing with the Trainee.

    Pros

There is a lot of freedom that comes with the financial advisor position. You run your own office and have your own assistant. You do not have to put up any upfront money for your office they just want you to put in the time to build it up. There are more ways to be compensated for your hard work, not just commission. There are two great trips each year you can win for your successful sales, bonuses and a chance to become a partner of the firm down the road. Overall Edward Jones is a great company to work for

    Cons

Technology is finally getting up to speed but it has taken awhile to get there.
