    Pros

    Salary is better than most local agencies, great pension, and great benefits. If the department matches your personality it will work for you but otherwise your in trouble.

    Cons

    Poor FTO program. Mid level management loses connection to its employees. Also a better understanding between mid level management and officers needs to be orgainized and made uniform.

    Advice to Management

    Please seek change. The department is an old boys club in which needs change. Training Program needs to be updated and made current with the times.

    Pros

    Beautiful area, generally low crime rate, decent treatment of sworn personnel

    Cons

    treatment of non-sworn personnel as "second class" employees, both in representation and policy making, lack of support by management and supervision, inconsistent policies not applied to all employees consistently, "good old boy" network, lack of respect of female and minority employees

    Advice to Management

    Follow your own written policies, removed ineffective supervision and corrupt management

    Pros

    The employees/co workers are great people. Good benefits and retirement packages. The compensation is fair when compared to other agencies, but still below par.

    Cons

    No room for professional growth. There a few positions available for promotion and then there is nowhere else to go. Leadership is lacking, there is little to no accountabilty of empoyees. Evaluations are very generic and 'half assed.'

    Advice to Management

    Take the time to get to know your employees, their family, goals, and their ambitions professionally. Hold people accountable for their puctuality, good performance, sick time abuse, and teamwork.
