    Pros

HR is trying to hire more millennials to change the dynamic and mentality of the company, but it will take time to implement this. I did enjoy having a cafeteria and nurse, and there were a lot of really great people who worked there.

    Cons

This company fires the wrong people and plays favorites. They also don't train enough to have a fully strong staff, so they tend to overwork the employees they rely on. There is very little growth opportunity. Good old boy mentality. Pay is not competitive.

    Advice to Management

Replace management in Land. Hire more young engineers and train them up. Reward and promote employees who deserve it, and get rid of those who do not.

    Pros

    The company benefits are outstanding.

    Cons

The company still operates with a small company culture. This makes it very difficult to succeed as a large company. Engineering management is not supportive and has a "shoot the messenger" mentality.

    Advice to Management

    Explore fresh engineering management staff.

I have been working at Elbit Systems of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The 9/80 work schedule and family environment are great. There are ample opportunities to move into different jobs if you show interest. There is also opportunities for international travel.

    Cons

Often times our customers assume we are an Israeli company and not a wholly owned subsidiary. There is still a deep seeded cultural bias for some of our customers that we need to work through.

    Advice to Management

I don't believe the physical environment matches the spirit of the company. Some of the division's buildings could certainly use a facelift!

    Pros

Great people to work with, time off, flexibility with work schedule and alternating Fridays off.

    Cons

Extensive use of legacy systems impedes new methods, failure to make timely decisions, many simple decisions require top management approval.

    Pros

Good culture for belonging and being involved in and understanding company policies, vision and performance. Flexible decision making based on risk reward ratio.

    Cons

Accountability beyond business unit VP/GM blurred. Decision making for change and to invest resources requires much involvement of others and time.

    Advice to Management

Move engineering resources under program managers within business units. Have program and pursuit plans with parent company where Financials and Performance are related.

    Pros

True "family atmosphere". Always got the sense that co-workers and management alike cared about both your personal and professional development.

    Cons

Pay is probably a bit low as compared to the national average for analogous positions/and experience level. Benefits, particularly health insurance, are average at best.

I have been working at Elbit Systems of America full-time

    Pros

Elbit Systems provide very good products for defense industry. Flexibility, work schedule, pay & benefits, and responsibility are great for someone who requires little oversight and can work on projects without constant direction.

    Cons

Company technology for the most part comes from outside the United States. Convincing customers to consider technology not "made in the USA" can be challenging. Tightening defense budgets and acquisition reform add their own degrees of challenges.

    Advice to Management

Continue to seek individuals with high degree of integrity and people that have proven experience bringing customers and company together to define customer requirement and then select the best solution available to fill the requirement.

I have been working at Elbit Systems of America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Relatively small in the realm of US defense contractors, but backed by a large parent company which allows ESA to compete on larger contracts while remaining more flexible than some competitors.

    Cons

Very limited investment in growing internal engineering capability - much of the work is passthrough of products and technologies from parent company. Organization is heavily "silo"d and competition between internal groups for business can be detrimental.

    Advice to Management

Establish a coherent plan for adding technical/engineering value at ESA.
