I worked at Elco Administrative Services Company full-time

    Pros

Job security if you work hard, yearly raises, eventual promotions

    Cons

Office politics, favoritism, lowered merit raises, below average salaries, long time before promotions happen in the NY office, poor management, cliques, very outdated technology, greed, unmanageable workload and rigorous timeliness standards

    Advice to Management

Pay employees what they are worth and promote them when they deserve it, or you will continue to lose great people. Learn from your mistakes. Treat employees with kindness and compassion. Don't be penny smart and dime foolish. Invest in improving technology and work facilities. Learn how to manage and how to communicate effectively. Don't penalize employees by making them use sick days when there is a blizzard.... Help manage inventory and don't bury employees with an unmanageable workload. Improve training. Management needs to get on the same page. Set your employees up for success!

I have been working at Elco Administrative Services Company full-time

    Pros

nice people and decent starting pay, less hours than rental at Enterprise

    Cons

alternative work arrangement non existent, "merit" increases are a joke

    Advice to Management

merit increases are a joke. you can't keep long term great employees by throwing 3% raises at them.

I have been working at Elco Administrative Services Company

    Pros

The schedule is very flexible. Once you complete your work timely, you are able to easily change the schedule as needed.

    Cons

The management has the need to micro-manage your work. Management erroneously addresses issues within your work without doing a proper evaluation. Promotional ability is low. Pay is not commensurate to the complexity of your case load.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Elco Administrative Services Company full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The employees is what made the everyday environment healthy, though most employees come thru enterprise rent a car you gain long term friends. Which is great as you try to work your way up thru management.

    Cons

Management is horrible, it's like your in a jail an they are the wardens you are being watched every minute and God forbid you have a question on a claim is like everyone grew another eyeball so you rather just not ask the question. There is no room to grow an no plan to make employees feel valued and appreciated

    Advice to Management

Learn that your employees are not robots, take the time to grow them individually an maybe actually build some time of repor with them instead of just management sticking with management

I have been working at Elco Administrative Services Company full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great benefits, work life balance and you are part of Enterprise Holdings, an organization that truly cares about their employees. Great down to earth management that listens and cares. Cushy Desk Job.

    Cons

The pay is on the bottom end of the industry average (hourly). They throw you in the fire, (and arent always avaliable to help). Extremely (almost unrealistically) high volume claims pipeline, and alot of moving parts. This is a relatively young department of the business so there are not many opportunities for advancement. Must be willing to relocate if you want to get into management.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the laid back style of management, it is very refreshing, but there needs to be additional training after the orientation to better ease the transition and minimize mistakes.

I have been working at Elco Administrative Services Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They're are no pros other than the fact this job is 40 hours; Monday through Friday. Occasionally you can leave early and paid holidays are better than the retail branches.

    Cons

Where to begin? New employees receive no real benefits other than the typical health care package after a few months. Time off is given to you after 1 year of service. In this particular office, it is smoke and mirrors and a complete trap from what is said in the interview. This office is a joke with managers who are nasty and a regional manager who acts like a dictator. They are so far removed from the... adjusters that the environment is an "us versus them" mentality. There is no leadership and management is always criticizing your work. Promotions are few and far between and not easily attainable. Want to apply for a position within Enterprise Rent-a-Car? Too bad, you can't. Management will make sure they find a way for you to stay in claims. So forget trying to broaden your horizons in other departments. This job primarily deals with you cleaning up what the rental branches screwed up. You're not dealing with any policy holders who are stand up citizens, your dealing with the degenerate customers that somehow managed to rent a vehicle and they later cause an accident that turns into a fiasco. A good majority of the team has low authority levels which means your manager/supervisor has to review the claim and grant the authority. You have to wait until they review the file whenever they decide to get to it. And when you do finally get the file back, you will get it back with nasty, condescending remarks that make you feel like you're failing. There is no real training and leadership lacks completely. Revolving door. People constantly leaving, and hiring people outside of Enterprise Holdings seems to be difficult. Most people hired are internal employees from the rental branches looking to get out of sales or stress associated in the rental branches. ELCO is more of the same. Once you start here, you will realize you made a mistake because there is no training and you're treated horribly. The only training provided is one week at corporate learning some basic claim info. It's a joke. Policies and guidelines are not solid or consistent. Each supervisor will tell you to do things differently from the other. Try to think outside the box and your reprimanded for it. Technology is out of date. Still using paper files when other companies are all electronic and allow their employees to work from home. There is no training on their systems and you'll have to learn on your own or rely on other adjusters to help you. Time off. When you actually want to take PTO or vacation, be prepared to fight for it because management has to have a meeting to discuss if it is appropriate or not even if you're giving advance notice. Very rigid at ELCO and not friendly at all. All of this coupled with a toxic office environment with miserable employees makes this a company you do not want to work for.

    Advice to Management

Get with the times and mirror the company like others in the industry do. Offer on going training. Hire leaders. Just because an adjuster can do a good job doesn't necessarily qualify him or her to be a manager. Sure, this job can be stressful dealing with claimants and high exposures, but you have to do better at taking care of your employees. Find a way to lead and stop good talent from walking out the door... and spending company money on constantly sending new hires to a lame one week training at corporate. It wouldn't be so bad if authority levels were higher and your people were happier.

I worked at Elco Administrative Services Company

    Pros

Learn a lot of information. Coworkers friendly

    Cons

Extremely low salaries well below fair market range, micromanaged to the point of insanity, little opportunity for growth, inflexible management, management not concerned in the advancement of employees.

    Advice to Management

If you have the same top level and turn over has increased , numbers are lagging and morale is below bottom, its time to take a look at the management team change them out and try something new. Also happy employees will produce results especially if they feel the company cares about them. Increase salaries, get involved in employees career instead of investigating their personal lives and create a better work/home... life balance.

    Pros

Work independently, good hours, good benefits, pay is decent

    Cons

Management, negative work atmosphere, constantly reducing estimates and upsetting clients, lack of necessary training, computers systems and phones always crash.

    Advice to Management

Be more available for help, inform employees of attendance policies that aren't listed in the Enterprise handbook, try to point out positives and not just negatives and mistakes that are made, be more lenient on repair costs.
