I have been working at Electronic Data Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I think people need to really take a hard and honest look at themselves

    Cons

I would definitely not do this again if I had the choice.

    Advice to Management

This is always a tricky question to answer. Basically, the interviewer wants to get a sense of how you deal with conflict when it arises

EDS was a very good company to work for in the 80s and 90s. Not as much in the 00s. Therefore, I left to pursue a better opportunity.

    Pros

Great company culture that emphasized employee development and opportunities. Excellent opportunities to work at various large companies and gain a lot of experience quickly.

    Cons

Some of company culture that made it a great place to work was lost with the acquisition by HP.

I worked at Electronic Data Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

EDS had one of the best cultures during my tenture. There was always lots of opportunity for career growth and learning.

    Cons

EDS started to lose it way - starting with Dick Brown - as it brought in too many outsiders to lead the company. They lacked vision and leadership in an industry that Ross Perot invented.

    Advice to Management

Learn to lead, and reinvent the business/industry!

    Pros

Access to technical resources & references. Great teamwork, fellowship & support for each other. Great professional development. Great training opportunities. Great benefits - medical, dental, vision, 401K, stock plan, pension plan. Great growth opportunities. Great rewards - bonuses, raises, promotions, recognition, dinners, awards, prizes & other perks. Great review process. Great integrity, values, diversity & employee value & respect. Exclusive onsite support at a corporate account is a great environment. Don't need a degree to work there (opportunity for good, smart people to excel).

    Cons

People working on salary remotely from home may work 80 hours/week and the work schedule may be devastating to whatever time is left: Meetings all day (9-6), every couple of hours, prepare for server changes all evening (7-9pm), work all night making server changes or waiting in queues for your turn and complete paperwork (9pm-7am), plus emergency on-call rotation, no time to take training or train yourself. The few hours you have left are to grab a bite, catch a z, run to store & try to see your wife & kids. I wouldn't recommend remote support from home unless it's paid hourly.

    Advice to Management

Build your company around your employees and train, train, train. Don't lay people off.
