I worked there for 8 years, no issues with management and team members. Good environment to work, sometimes had to work extra hours but it was an exception. Good compensation.
Cons
Extra hours are not compensated with PTO. Not opportunities to learn new technologies.

Cons
Systemic issues permeate and continue to be pervasive throughout ETC. The ghosts of past poor C-Level management continue to haunt ETC and some haven't left. There has been a frantic attempt to address various issues with a recent influx of new upper management coming primarily from a declining competitor. These influxes tend to demand project information immediately with little or no consideration of the time of those providing data. Modern visibility tool software would help alleviate many of these demands, but this costs money and time. Actual leadership is a limited commodity, and the term ‘Servant Leadership’ is thrown around at the top but is purely lip service as that would mean they’d have to truly place their wants and needs beneath their people. Single threaded/single points of failure are a consistent theme within project areas. Project teams sizes are in most cases not suitable as key team members are left on islands with unsustainable workloads and provided resources with inadequate skillsets. Pleas to hire needed resources fall on deaf ears with the excuse that “we are looking, but these types of SMEs are not available”. There is little to no bandwidth nor formal process to train incoming junior resources that may have the ability to contribute and be a valuable future project resource. Lack of effective resources causes overall frustration for good employees while entrenched individuals remain due to the “good ole boy and girl network”. Employees who truly care, give an inordinate number of hours to provide their customer with a quality product and eventually burn out and in many instances begin to quietly quit thus exacerbating the problems. A root cause of resource availability has been consistently poorly bid projects possibly due to poor process and a desperate desire to win. As would be expected, this results in very tight budgets. ETC is a lean organization where everyone ‘must’ be billing to a project and the concept of a “bench” is not practiced. A bench cost money and that requires investment. Don’t be fooled by the touted Flexible Time Off (FTO) benefit. Those that are dedicated rarely have bandwidth in their role to take time off. Those who are entrenched tend to abuse the benefit and are not available when they are needed. There are limited bright spots near the top of the leadership chain but few. Be careful trusting other reviews of ETC. Seeded internal positive Glassdoor reviews are prevalent.

Good pay and coworkers, poor work/life balance and no feeling of job security
Jul 18, 2022 - Technical Writer in Richardson, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you are willing to have a job that includes working weekends, evenings, holidays, and weekdays (basically always), this is an overall good place to work. The pay is good and the coworkers are serious and work well. I personally had great managers and supportive training.
Cons
No work/life balance. Special project deadlines repeatedly landed on holidays, meaning overtime and not family time. This happened many times. Many people are contract which makes for an unsecure job environment - people are there one day and not the next because of a mistake they made, or because they asked for a day off. This wears on people.

Pros
Plenty of opportunities for growth and cross-training Consistent work and future demand Cutting-edge technology Mentorship Autonomy
Cons
The company went many years not bidding on new work. Some of the delivery skills were a bit rusty, but they have put some WD-40 on the rust and are starting to work like a machine now. There can be periods of long hours and extended work weeks.
