I have been working at Elevate Credit full-time

    Pros

The majority of us live and breathe the Elevate Core Values. Executive Management as well as middle management truly cares for the customers we serve and the employees on our teams. We are well compensated and have many unique perks and awesome benefits. Don't fall for the SOUR GRAPES reviews which are obviously from people who were terminated or failed to perform and left under pressure; one saying these reviews are...

    Cons

We are slower to accomplish our big hopes and dreams - so many great ideas and small to medium wins are deprioritized or just never seem to make it across the finish line, but only after thoroughly discussed and collaborative decisions to do so.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing and don't get distracted by the naysayers.

    Pros

With the team size, you have the ability to take on roles that wouldn’t be possible at much larger companies.

    Cons

Still in the early stage of agile/scrum. Team members shift around often based on need.

I worked at Elevate Credit full-time for more than a year

    Pros

In a business full of predatory practices elevate is refreshingly customer friendly and really care about and wants to help them. The work life balance is good and the pay is competitive.

    Cons

More than 75% of employees in data science team left the company in a span of little over a year. This should alone be a testament to how bad the situation is. There is rampant nepotism through and through. Managers go so far as to asking their favorite employees to present projects done by others and take credit for it. Managers have no clue about basics of statistics and therefore force scientists to build very questionable...

Cut out the middle managers and reach out directly to the employees to understand the problem. Should also build employees trust on HR and their practices.

    Cons

High nepotism back stabbing Poor management HR is completely blank on how people are getting treated poor manager -employee relationship very poor work life balance... if you can work 80 hrs a week ... then u r fine else u r an under-performer even though u r much more efficient Managers don't know the value of proper transparency between leadership and team. Advice to Management

Have a little knowledge of the responsibilities of a manager and provide a better coaching and mirror of their treatment with their reportees. Managers should be coached every now and then. When the threatening culture will fade, then u will know how these people treat us. Remember that no matter how many happy hrs u do… managers are actually the “face of the company”. Delegation is important but not when manager put...

I worked at Elevate Credit full-time for more than a year

    Pros

+ Incredible co-workers; all were very professional, talented, operated with integrity, highly skilled, genuinely card for the customers and each other. Was often encouraged to keep pushing myself and to keep developing myself. + Accessible executives. The C suite took an interest in our professional and personal development, Middle management took a pro-active approach to helping develop us, and there were tons of...

    Cons

+ Office space has few walkable amenities but there are tons of restaurants in the area and it is super easy to commute to (at the intersection of Chisholm trail, 20, and 183).

    Advice to Management

Y'all are doing a great job! Keep it up. Perhaps establish a formal training/rotational program for young analysts; there is lots of interesting stuff happening at Elevate and I wish I could have had a more diverse experience there.

    Cons

Significant nepotism. Particularly in product, finance, HR, and Risk. HR will say you need to complete a development plan to get promoted, but that isn’t true. The bar for success on who gets promoted is based on who you know. Can you talk about tennis or football? Yes. You get promoted. Are you male and white? Yes. You get promoted. Financial Numbers that are communicated to the outside analyst seem to be way too aggressive. The Low stock price looks like it scares many people yes we missed analyst forecast but we still grew net income as long as our company is making money it is not going any where.

Learn to actually manage your team, and don't send everything to HR. Stop the favoritism and blatant disregard for certain people who may be "different" from others. Have a clear vision for your team, provide them with that vision and then execute.
