Hyper-growth company with inspiring mission and amazing culture!
Jan 19, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Inspiring mission, huge potential on the business side, plus a dynamic, passionate founder & CEO. Company has recently brought on experienced leadership from top tech companies that will take the company to the next level!
Cons
Company is still maturing some of its system and processes, but normal growing pains for company this size

Pros
I get to work with an amazing team of people every day. The work we do feels impactful to employees we support and our mission. I have an amazing boss and department leader!
Cons
It is fast paced and consistently changing. If you do not thrive in that kind of space this may not be for you.

Pros
- You get to work from home - Somewhere set your own hours - The curriculum is done for you - The company offers professional development
Cons
-Elevate K12 lacks transparency in several areas. For example, they do not disclose the pay rate for administrative tasks, which can be a significant part of a teacher's workload. This lack of transparency can make it difficult for teachers to accurately assess their compensation and negotiate their contracts. -Additionally, the company's pay stubs often do not match the hours worked in the online portal, leading to confusion and frustration for teachers. -Elevate K12 frequently changes pay rates, classes, and adds additional work to teachers' loads after they have signed their contract. This inconsistency can make it difficult for teachers to plan their schedules and rely on the company for steady employment. -This company advertises that you don't have to do lesson plans, however over the past year this task has been added to the teachers work load. They are required to provide weekly lesson notes, update their daily program calendars, and provide weekly student feedback. -Some teachers have reported feeling unsupported by the company, with little guidance or communication from management. This lack of support can make it challenging to address concerns or issues that arise during teaching sessions. -This company offers professional development, but it's not accredited and cannot be used towards recertification in some states. -Elevate K12 relies heavily on contract workers, teachers do not have access to traditional employee benefits like health insurance, retirement plans, or paid time off.

Customer Obsessed Fast Paced Company
Apr 12, 2023 - SVP Operations in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I've been at Elevate K12 for 4.5 years and it’s been a privilege to be a part of the hyper growth we have experienced. We have an energetic team with a lively office atmosphere in Chicago supported by a leadership team that cares about their people and customers. The fast-paced environment is one that pushes team members to achieve personal and company goals while ensuring the company culture of "work hard, play hard + growth mindset" resonates throughout the organization. We are a distributed team so not everyone is in Chicago, but we do a great job of keeping everyone engaged with cross company events no matter where you live. Unlimited PTO, team outings and weekly lunches are just a few of the perks as an employee. But what makes Elevate K12 the best…the people and our mission!
Cons
The fast-paced environment is not for everyone. Things move quickly and our commitment to the success of our customers (School Districts and Teachers) is key. We are constantly evolving, and change is the only thing that is constant. Ideal employees, think quick on their feet, are detail oriented, are excited by solving tough problems and have grit to endure. If these things do not excite you then this is not for you.

Pros
Great, really smart people who are completely dedicated to serving our partner schools in a very fast-paced, fun environment. Real opportunities to grow into your next role for highly driven self-starters.
Cons
Lots of turnover in leadership has resulted in lots of changes in direction, priority over the past year or so. Seems like it’s reaching some stasis now but if you aren’t a fan of change, this might not be the place for you. Also, team leadership can be inconsistent - sometimes it feels like not everyone is following the same set of rules. Pretty common issues, though, for a high growth, fast-paced start-up.

Fulfilling Mission - great company
Apr 16, 2023 - Product ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Mission is inspiring, the people inside the company are committed, capable, collaborative and the company is at early stages of development. It is ideal for people that are entrepreneurial and scrappy, and are capable of dealing with some level of ambiguity as the company charts its course. It's also the first company that I have worked in with women leaders at every level, and more than 60% of the company is female, which brings a different level of energy and collaboration to bear. Compensation and benefits are competitive. Having colleagues across the US, with headquarters in Chicago and Mumbai gives it a very global feel.
Cons
Since the company is still in its growth phase, some systems and processes are lacking, e.g., decision making is still quite centralized. Also, the company and its leadership are still figuring out how to run the business in a more predictable manner - which can cause things to change very quickly. I see these just as more growing pains, as opposed to systematic issues.

Pros
Snacks, huge office that is empty 90% of the time, gym in office.
Cons
A lot of the recent reviews are extremely accurate but I would like to share some current up to date information on Elevate K12. Since I have started, we have had three title changes. Sales development representative, educational consultant and partnership associate. They promote individuals on the team based on favorability and solely on the fact of when they need someone in a new position. The company will keep things behind the curtains until they are ready to release information and when it is favorable for them to do so. We are constantly being told to “stay hungry” and to make sure we hit our quotas., Since I have started, over a year ago, we have had three professional development days called, “Closing Camp”. Here we watch the same YouTube video each time and take notes on key points. If you are looking to learn new things and grow as a sales professional, Elevate is the last place you should choice. As for the account executive side, they give extremely false OTE numbers. Please reach out to current account executives on LinkedIn about their accurate OTE numbers. Commission comes when the school districts pay and many schools have not paid and refuse to do so. All of the account executives are missing commission and still waiting on large paychecks. If you are joining as an AE, please know that you will not have anyone to directly report to. Please read all recent negative reviews before you even consider Elevate K-12.

Energizing and Rewarding
May 19, 2023 - Anonymous in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The Elevate employees are overwhelmingly smart, supportive, highly motivated, and really fun to work with. The mission motivates the employees to do their absolute best work. There are always opportunities to learn and gain new skills, as the company is constantly growing and evolving.
Cons
The rapid growth can feel like a lot at times. You need to be able to pivot and adapt to change quickly. If you thrive off consistency, this might not be the place for you.

Huge opportunity
Apr 20, 2023 - Sales Development Manager in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Engaging team culture - Career pathways are laid out - KPI's are very clear - Culture of training, growth, and coaching - We have a lot of fun and the office is beautiful with a brand new gym - Catered lunches on Wednesday's in the office
Cons
- Common mature start-up issues, but the company is working every day to improve - Typical with many changes/evolutions, the communication hasn't always been the best. To be fair, the company recognizes this and is actively working on improving.

Positive Growth and Change after a Challenging Year
May 17, 2023 - Anonymous Employee in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Ability to Rebound from Challenges - After being at Elevate for over a year, the biggest lesson I've learned is that change is hard and uncomfortable, but often times it is necessary for long-term improvements and growth. Elevate K-12 has had a challenging year, no one will deny that. However, as someone who was strongly considering leaving 4-6 months ago - I can confidently say I've changed my mind and feel excited to continue to grow my career with Elevate. Professional Growth - Elevate K-12 is a challenging place to work, but the challenges I'm faced with have strengthened my professional ability to be adaptable in times of change and I've learned to be proactive in the wake of turbulence. These skills are so important to me - so for that I'm grateful. The People behind the Mission - The other thing that has kept me here is the amazing staff. I truly believe that everyone at Elevate K-12 believes in our mission and changing education across the country to give more opportunities to teachers and more accessible to students. I feel that our work does impact our communities and clients in a way you don't always see given we're a tech company. The people here work hard and play hard - we celebrate and grow together. Being able to always look forward - Elevate has brought on new leadership in the last 4-6 months and I believe we're in such a better state to grow and achieve now. There are some amazing tech advancements and automation in the works that will take us to the next level. It's an exciting time to be with Elevate K-12!
Cons
Fast-Paced, Ever-Changing Environment - There is more stability here than previously, but things change on the week, day, and sometimes hour. This can make consistency and proactivity challenging not a huge con, but makes the day-to-day more challenging. Auxiliary Benefits - The general benefits (health, dental, vision) are good, but there are slim auxiliary benefits. Wishing we had things like 401K matching, commuter benefits, generous parental leave, reimbursement for work materials, etc. This is all based on personal preference, but it would be great to see some more enticing benefits offered given tech companies seem to be VERY competitive in these areas, and modeling after them is always a point of conversation here. Value of Productivity over People -This is not always relevant but there have been times when I've felt productivity has been prioritized over employee well-being/rest. There is a heavy feeling of "work work work" at times without prioritizing taking PTO and appropriate time away from work. Happy & Healthy employees do better work, so personally, I would like to see this emphasized from the top down. Definitely a personal preference, but nonetheless important.
