I have been working at Eli Lilly full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Amazing pipeline and forecast. Work life balance. Free coffee. Fitness center with classes. Friendly staff. Lots of socials and events. Decent benefits and time off is generous. Good cafeteria food. Can work from home occasionally if position permits it. Friendly and approachable senior management. Good culture overall, with emphasis on diversity.

    Cons

Management needs to address the issue of lazy/unmotivated personnel, as hard workers are disheartened and are leaving. Compensation and review ratings no longer reflect performance other than 'Meets Expectations' or 'Does not Meet Expectations'. The high performer for example gets the same bonus as the average or even below average worker for the same job and level. Only horrendous employees get 'Does Not Meet Expectations', and often this does not even happen because it reflects on management to retain employees who consistently under-perform.

    Advice to Management

It's tough to manage both people and work well. In some departments, middle management are oblivious to staff who are MIA. The people who slack off get away with it, and the strong performers are very demotivated by this behavior. Management could address it but choose not to, resulting in good talent leaving. You can see evidence of this by high turnaround in certain departments. Additionally, further evidence of this is a tremendous difference in the volume of work assigned and produced by people at the same level in the same department. Managers, you know you are ignoring this because you assign more work to certain people and the work gets done. But wake up, good people are leaving because of it.

    Pros

Great company with great ethics, excellent values to work for providing they make you permanent. They look after their permanent employees

    Cons

Too many temporary workers who have been therefore over 10 years, most of them are very good and loyal workers, treated like second class citizens

I have been working at Eli Lilly full-time

    Pros

Great company with awesome benefits. The majority of the employees really do care about their job and are fully engaged.

    Cons

The hyper focus on diversity is having the opposite impact by keeping top talent out of key roles. Tight deadlines can cause panic and communication problems between teams.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

I worked at Eli Lilly full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great Benefits
    Great working environment
    Very flexible company
    Option to work from home

    Cons

Will not compensate you for the work you have done.
I didn't get a raise after all the hard work I did throughout the year. Instead my boss gave me a 33.00 raise 1 yr and nothing the following year very disappointing. Be careful who you work with at this company.

    Advice to Management

    Stop with the favoritism.

    Pros

Great benefits, competitive pay, good overall culture.

    Cons

There is a lot of politics that goes on here and it's very clicky in my area at least. Management plays favorites. There's also whispering going on all the time and it's stressful to be around.

    Advice to Management

Reign in the culture at the lower levels of the company.

    Pros

Lilly does an excellent job with their hiring process. The majority of people who work here you would want on your team.

    Cons

The group that gives the go ahead on what molecules they are going to invest in needs a different job. The last 4-5 molecules didn't meet primary endpoint after investing millions.
