I worked at Elite Line Services full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    • Some truly great leaders have worked there for years without burning out self/others.

     • Lean so not a lot of levels between you and Executives.

     • Have spent considerable resources on training and safety.

    Cons

    • No room for career growth unless you start out at very, very, VERY bottom rung and devote 10+ years and relocate to advance. Very likely to be financially compensated for any self-improvement ONLY by job hopping to competitor.

     • Nepotism and other blatant policy/financial "passes" for some of the good old boys club.

     • Extremely inconsistent reward (performance review standards, pay increases, bonuses) and punishment (attendance, discipline, etc.). (There are write-ups of HOW these are all suppose to go but real-world is NOT what happens 95% of time.)

     • Parent Japanese company (Daifuku / Jervis B Webb, Nov 2012) is more focused on acquisition (customers / other sister companies) than investing in current customer relationships -- has translated to rollover in field contracts.

     • Some nasty high-level interoffice politics since early 2016.

    Advice to Management

    • Standardize/streamline/automate processes especially in regards to: IT resources & cases (Possibly outsource IT to external vendor?), employee hire/term paperwork & processes, performance reviews, and open/close sites. Stop relying on post-its, employees "playing communication/training bus", and 13th-hour gut feelings. Invest the time and money for well-implemented software and thought-out processes.

     • Take fresh look at annual Employee Survey and Exit Interview (design -AND- questions asked). Then make concentrated effort to IMPROVE one thing -- at some point employees stop telling you about problems (your current metric of "improvement") because they see NOTHING changes.

     • Need to devote resources to succession planning. Current are far, FAR below quarter-ass efforts.

     • Improve effectiveness of (bi)annual Back Office Meetings. Stop re-inventing the wheel (content) every (few) meeting -AND- trying to cram everything into these 2-3 day meetings. Lengthen/focus the meetings and work on there being a consistent and MAINTAINED online resource specifically for these NEGLECTED Back Office Personnel.

     • Hire an impartial, outside consultant to take a fresh look at current pay rates (HR tends to insultingly lowball), 401k match (how better recruitment/retention (lower turnover cost) if increase match by 1%), payroll cycle (weekly), health benefits, etc. And while you are at it, compile all employee benefits into single presentation (current employees and recruitment)-- not just health, 401k, and employee education reimbursement, but also payroll (weekly). vendor discounts, various ways employees can provide feedback, etc.

    Pros

ELS has the affiliation with DAIFUKU but very little of the parent company culture seems to filter down.

    Cons

Minimal corporate participation or support for numerous operations. Corporate staff has high turnover and there seems to be little direction and absolutely no form of strategic planning of any kind. Even the company website is out dated and doesn't reflect the companies current profile or direction. Individual operations are decentralized resulting in a fragmented company culture. Training and development are virtually non-existent other than antiquated online video sessions, many of which are from the 80's and 90's. New President loves slogans but that is where the vision and culture change stop.

    Advice to Management

Leadership starts with a vision which is totally lacking at ELS. Mandates are handed down in the form of slogans with little or no resources to support. The President is not engaged as a leader, rather he dictates expected results without utilizing any method of systematic review and analysis of business trends and issues. Employee turnover is extremely high due to the inherent low wages, but it is also significantly impacted by a negative culture where employee development is severely lacking. There needs to be a concerted and sustained focus on developing, improving and promoting a differentiating company image. Their current public profiles and attempts to utilize job boards to fill their many open positions is nothing short of embarrassing. As of July 20 2017 many of their job postings on Monster, LinkedIn and other job boards display the name of the company as Elite Line Services (Delete). They can't even post a job professionally or correctly. Best advice, high some real professionals.

    Pros

The work schedule is kind of ok.

    Cons

If you are looking for an entry position within the industrial maintenance field this is an ok job to cut your teeth on. If you already have experience in industrial maintenance stay away from this company! They will NEVER pay you what your worth. There are never any chances for promotion. The corporate office will lie to your face. Just one example, I was told by the CEO when he came to our site that they would not be cutting our hourly pay rates. They lied and tock away all holiday pay. That was a 2.5% hit to our hourly pay. The company never gives you an actual raise. They might give you what they call a "of cost of living raise." Which only amounts to maybe an extra $0.30 an hour. The company always tries to give you "shiny" bobbles of junk to buy their employees off and act like it's a big deal. When in fact it's a cheap pierce of junk that cost them hardly anything. To sum things up, pay rates are not were they should be, get lied to by corporate, no holiday pay, no promotions, no real training, company makes millions while employees struggle to make ends meet

    Advice to Management

Actually invest in your employees instead of using them like they are disposable. Treat your employees with respect. Do not lie or treat your employees like they are ignorant children. Offer more opportunities for promotion. Actually pay your employees a real living wage. Stop taking away from your employees to look good to the mother company. Have a CEO who has actually worked in the field.

I have been working at Elite Line Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get a decent starting pay and some benefits. you can get training if you show interest in learning for the possibility of moving up when a position presents itself and everybody seems to have a fair shot at the promotion. You also always get two or three days off every week in a row depending on which shift you choose.

    Cons

Promotions don't come too often and many of the shifts are not standard 9-5 shifts. Usually you are getting up or going home at a really early or late time (this doesn't have to be a con though).
