I worked at Elizabeth Arden as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Well known name in the industry

    Cons

Poorly managed and staffed. No real chance of promotion. A lot of good people work there that are not adequately compensated and then they are discarded. HR also needs to be a little more transparent. They often know important information that will affect decisions that employees make. It appears that they are complicit in 'getting one over' on employees.

    Advice to Management

They would get a better product from their staff if they invested more into them. They rely too heavily on contract workers that are poorly paid to do the work of management. Hopefully now that they have been acquired, there will be more stability.

I worked at Elizabeth Arden full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good training
    Good product allocation
Great staff shop and staff discount 50%

    Cons

Bullying account manager, no interest from area manager. (Brent Cross counter)
    Stressful atmosphere at work.
    Lack of progress.
Very old fashioned company with not a lot to offer.

    Advice to Management

Please take some interest regarding your account managers actions. It is not normal for so many people to leave because of one person and not investigating it.

I have been working at Elizabeth Arden full-time

    Pros

Management is very flexible and understanding. Perks of casual Fridays and make your own hours. Work from home 1 day a week if wanted.

    Cons

Lack of direction and cohesiveness in the office. Lack of team environment. Training could be better and take time on issues that come up. More of a put out the fire now and we will explain later...if there is time later.

    Advice to Management

Build a strong culture where people enjoy spending time together.

I worked at Elizabeth Arden full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great products that should be in the top 10 cosmetic companies. Most employees have many years of longevity. Upper management and loyalty drove this company. The employees work very hard and are well compensated. Field team is amazing to be able to accomplish what they do without the tools other companies take for granted.

    Cons

Company started taking drastic measures to stay afloat. Miss steps occurred. The Field team was reduced again. Key people started leaving who made this company great.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your people starting with the consultants in the stores and AE's.

I worked at Elizabeth Arden (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Big company with small company feel. Opportunity to get involved in many aspects of the business without the major functional silos typical of many companies.

    Cons

Business continues to struggle on overall strategy development and then supporting execution plan. Lots of turnover in management as result, with new execution strategies each year.

I have been working at Elizabeth Arden (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you've been here for a while, you get to know a lot of good people.

    Cons

Company is top heavy with management. When we have to work Sunday, quite often those hours must be lost somewhere during the week to avoid OT. Back when I first started, There was no problem with OT. There was also very few managers at this location. Now if someone gets even 15 minutes, you are told to leave.

    Advice to Management

If the company is going to force people to work Sunday, at least let them keep the money they made for it. It's bad enough to have to come in, but to have to lose those hours by the end of the week is just wrong.
