I have been working at Elmhurst College full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Access to free undergraduate education, good benefits package, and free admission to lectures and concerts.

    Cons

Raises are not as frequent as before, job performance reviews are not taken seriously nor are they used to give raises.

    Advice to Management

Remove the practice of job performance reviews as they decrease motivation to do one's best.

I worked at Elmhurst College full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

great people, strong mission, good student-faculty ratio, excellent and safe location, beautiful arboretum campus, part of tuition exchange program

    Cons

The College has had to reduce faculty and staff due to budget shortfalls, and there has been a lot of turn-over this year.

I worked at Elmhurst College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, good people, good and caring environment for students, staff, faculty. The school is open to all types of students and staff. They're supportive of a work-life balance.

    Cons

Like most institutions of higher learning, salary is typically lower than corporate America. But the culture is worth it. You won't get financially rich working for a school, but there are many other benefits that can't be replaced by just money.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Elmhurst College full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Free education, beautiful campus, laid-back environment/no stress

    Cons

Poor pay, no advancement, entitled management, awful HR department with no support/guidance for staff

    Advice to Management

Create an system for staff to evaluate management. Some awful "leaders" at EC and no one is holding accountable. They are bringing the College down.

I worked at Elmhurst College full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fair pay: 3rd shift started me off at $12.50 10 years ago, it might be 13 now.
Easy fair work. Hard work is rewarded.
Great benefits, 401k, paid vacations, roll over sick time.
    Friendly Co workers.

    Cons

Essentially no growth potential. Only in the case of one of the leads retires, or dies, you will not be moving up.
Moving up to a lead position is undesirable. You get a dollar raise, and your pay ceiling is raised (to $30/hr I believe). You must work 6 to 7 days a week. A lot more responsibility for not much more pay.
3rd shift is not for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Make the Lead position more desirable.

I have been working at Elmhurst College (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great professor and staff. The student body works hard and appreciates the atmosphere of a small Midwestern college with great student to professor ratio.

    Cons

    adjunct salary is very low

I worked at Elmhurst College (More than a year)

    Pros

Small class sizes, personalized attention for each student and staff member, near the heart of the city of Chicago, individualized care.

    Cons

Financial cost (although there is plenty of aid and scholarships for any student), Parking (it's in the center of a large city).

    Advice to Management

Consider the student input when thinking of budgetary items. Don't stray away from your messages, events, and speakers that give the college a deep set of traditions.

I worked at Elmhurst College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Ability to choose your own schedule
    - Coworkers were a pleasure to work with
    - Able to work on homework in down time
    - Low stress (no performance evaluation)

    Cons

    - Few hours available with bare minimum pay
    - If you work during normal school hours the parking can be an issue

    Advice to Management

Some students like to be pushed to perform better, would have been nice to get some feedback on performance now and then

    Cons

The point system, specially personal development. The hardest to fullfill
