I have been working at Emagine Entertainment part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good hours, variety in work positions, free movies, lots of ways to move up. You really feel like you get to know your managers and team leads which is good for communication. If you have a concern, or even an idea, you can be confident that that you are being heard. Also, being an establishment that serves alcohol, the managers will also come to your aid and take your side with rowdy or ridiculous guests. It genuinely feels like a team there, which you don't get in some workplaces.

    Cons

A fairly new manager who is still there is incredibly condescending and treats employees like he has to re train everybody every time they work. Also slight decline in employee benefits (we are now required to use ridiculously small 12 ounce drink cups instead of the 22oz small cups, I sometimes will get dehydrated and not even bother to get more water because I'd have to walk halfway across the building after drinking my entire cup in 2 seconds).

I worked at Emagine Entertainment part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

GREAT coworkers, good sense of camaraderie, and free movies as a perk!!

I have been working at Emagine Entertainment part-time for less than a year

    Pros

-Free movies/pop/popcorn -Mostly great co-workers -Easy job compared to most -Pre-screenings and free passes for friends -Flexible hours and the use of an online schedule (but remember to request days off in advance!) -Rare, but sometimes there are rewards for contests/hard work

    Cons

-Required to work two days a week and holidays (this isn't really a con..most places require this, and the use of an online tradeboard makes it easy to work around your holiday celebrations). -Equal pay does not make people want to work harder. Even very small pay raises would help! -Some supervisors and managers assign tasks to their co-workers, but don't do any of the work themselves. Why should they be paid more? -They fired cleaning crew on very short notice, to bring in poor quality staff from an outside company. -You're required to start in concessions, which is arguably the most difficult job. -If caught taking tips you will be fired. Why should concessions or ushers try their hardest to make customers happy if there is no incentive? At least restaurant servers have a chance at that. -A few angry customers, but no more than any other job that deals with the public.

I have been working at Emagine Entertainment part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    1. Free movies, pop and popcorn 2. Flexible scheduling 3. Mostly positive work environment.

    Cons

    1. Upper Management only seems to care about the "looks" of the building. They have no experience actually working in the theater and make changes constantly based on what looks right, not what works right. Talk to your employees before you go and make changes. 2. NO raises or bonuses anymore?! When minimum wage was raised they took away all previous earned raises. Now, someone who has been working there for three years is making the same wage as the new guy who just started? How does that make sense? 3. Promotions are mostly a popularity contest. 4. Hiring cheap labor usually leads to poor quality jobs. The new seats we got are terrible. They looked nice for about a week, then they started breaking. The break constantly now and ushers are always having to apologize to customers. Maybe if you didn't hire some Joe Shmoe, his son, and sons friends, they job would've gotten done right and efficiently. 5. I could keep going but I'll leave it at that.

"Its a good starting/high school-college job to make some extra cash and have some handy perks such as free movies."

Former Employee - Concessions in Canton, MI

I worked at Emagine Entertainment part-time

    Pros

You get free movies, free pop and popcorn while working and when you come in to see a show. Free passes on a regular basis for friends and family.

    Cons

You have to work weekends and the shifts often go pretty late. Its a service position so you will likely have to deal with angry customers.
