    Pros

Beautiful property with lots of inventory. Fast paced work environment, you get to meet servers from all over the world.

    Cons

Lower pay than surrounding competition and poor hiring skills. High turnover and seem to be focused more now on cutting costs than providing high levels of service. I was proud of being there but they lost focus.

    Advice to Management

Expense money on labor and training to empower people. You will see more long term loyalty in banquet groups when you have the resources to properly take care of them.

Opportunities to network and meet people form different backgrounds and industries.
You learn what Guest Service should be.

    Cons

    Low pay, and bad raises.

    Advice to Management

Try to invent a bonus plan for hourly positions making less than $13.00

I have been working at Embassy Suites full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Family oriented staff. They all seemed to get along with each other.
You find some money and get to keep it, when they were checked out of course.

    Cons

Long hrs. For only $11/hr. Not expecting it to be an easy job, but I was def overwhelmed with the work.
Don't leave until you finish your rooms.
Of course, how dirty the job can actually be.

Usually, I am one to work hard and give it my all, but 4 hrs into and I wanted to leave.
It's not an ideal/dream job. People do what they need to do. And I have a major respect for anyone person who sticks around for the "dirty" jobs.

I worked at Embassy Suites (Less than a year)

    Pros

Beautiful 34 million dollar hotel. Very, very nice facilities

    Cons

In a questionable part of town, property is new to f & b - not much experience. No health insurance at the time. Generally disorganized.

    Advice to Management

Ensure your management is not corrupt. The owners were unaware of the shifty things they did locally.

    Pros

many different schedules to work during the week and weekend

    Cons

poor upper management and HR assistance

    Advice to Management

Need to focus on the larger picture, rather than micromanaging. Fix the bigger problems and other areas will work themselves out.
