I worked at Emerald Downs (More than a year)

    Pros

The heat, drunk people, and some of the people can be a bit mean.

I have been working at Emerald Downs part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I like the people I work with.

    Cons

Your work ethic means nothing. The only employees that get anything, are their favorites. You get very few breaks. You hardly get any raises. They basically don't care about their employees.

    Advice to Management

If you want to keep your good employees, you need to have more full time positions.

I worked at Emerald Downs part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Manager was great, most of the people are very friendly.

    Cons

There was a lot of petty drama among some of the older women who had worked there for the majority of their lives.

I worked at Emerald Downs full-time

    Pros

Small team environment that allows you to shape your sales skills. You will learn how to package deals and you will have flexibility with price. This gives you a great sales foundation.

    Cons

Most of the staff at Emerald Downs is tenured so there is little room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

In order to keep people in sales you need to have a better compensation model in place. What offer for compensation is only attractive to people in love with the horse racing industry or recent college graduates.
