I have been working at Emerald Services full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Most coworkers are great people. I have never worked at a place where most of the people help each other and look out for each other like they do here.
pay is good used to be more hrs. company got bought by clean harbors and they took a lot of our work from us

    Cons

Upper management is punitive and childish. Throws tantrums and punishes performers over the whining of the lazy.

    Advice to Management

Stop listening to the screw ups and pay attention to those that you dont notice because they just do their job correctly. Oh and grow up.

    Pros

some of the people, benefits, occasional perks

    Cons

Middle management is corrupt taking credit for everyone else's work or firing anyone who does not make them look good. Moving up is impossible. They will give you extra duties and have you doing things that are not within your scope, just to cover the last person who was fired. Raises are non-existant in the last 3 years.

    Advice to Management

Stop. Evaluate your middle management, now! Hire more people, and keep them by making sure their managers know to help them grow, not throw them to the wolves. And dont treat the whistleblowers as your enemy. They are your red flag!

I worked at Emerald Services full-time

    Pros

Emerald was a very exciting and dynamic company to work for prior to being sold to Clean Harbors.

    Cons

Emerald expected a lot from the employees and sometimes it was hard to find a work-life balance.

    Pros

Independent organized workers can have some success.

    Cons

Managers like to take credit for others successes which leads to the high turnover of both Customers and staff.
The poor attitudes and comments by managers about failed relationships with customers defeats the purpose
of work performed by the drivers.

    Advice to Management

Train your Managers to the Health and safety standards that are set by law. Quit trying to save money on broken unsafe tools and Vehicles. You know from your own words that the profits will be better when you are the professional you are trying to portray.
