I worked at Emeritus Senior Living part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

consistent hours; other than occasional double shifts you would start early and also be able to end early. once you get to know the residents you know all of the drinks and food you will need to get together before they even sit down

    Cons

you're in charge of some manual work outside of serving such as cleaning the dining area when it's not being used. This includes scrubbing the seats. I feel like they need people more qualified using better supplies to get it really clean

    Advice to Management

don't have any... I was a seasonal college employee there for a short time. It was convenient our boss was available via text for questions on schedule

    Pros

Join Their Journey system for training new hires and continuing education was awesome. Assessment tools for determining levels of care made it easy to discuss and review with families. My community had an awesome management team and we worked hard as a group to deliver the best care.

    Cons

Long hours. On call 24/7. It seemed like there were too many layers of upper management.

    Advice to Management

Increase the pay for care, dining, and housekeeping staff. They work hard to deliver the care we expect of them.

    Pros

Helping the elderly is always amazing. but really there was not much else. I guess pay was ok but nothing that you can live on long term.

    Cons

Everything, the drama is high, people always fighting, no upper support, constant issues with family and people no communicating with eachother. Its a nighmare

    Advice to Management

    GET BETTER HOURS

I worked at Emeritus Senior Living full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

For many years, great company offered many opportunities for those that wanted to grow. Leadership under Granger Cobb was the best!

    Cons

Toward the end, some of the people who were hired did not fit as well into the culture and things started to change for the worse. Once the merger began it was difficult.

    Advice to Management

Now that the merger is complete, try not to blame things on Emeritus personnel. It just hurts the overall morale of the employees.

I have been working at Emeritus Senior Living full-time

    Pros

NONE! Actually being able to resign!!

    Cons

The current DCS newly hired will micro manage you right out of a job! She is a control freak! Watch your paycheck...wrong every 2 weeks. Promised certain amount of $ for points but not delivered and corporate is very one sided always agreeing with manager. Turn over is ridiculous and nobody cares about the actual reason we are in this practice which should be the patient!!!

    Advice to Management

Fire current DCS and listen to the hard working nurses out in the field that actually work. Support your nurses, listen to them, and pay them what they deserve and worked so hard to get!
