    Pros

Brookdale Senior Living is the largest Assisted living community in the United States. If you have to relocate they will accommodate you, if possible. Advance from with in. Reimburse for college coarses..

    Cons

Currently Brookdale Senior is not offering very good insurance coverage for employees at this time. High turn over for resident aides.

    Advice to Management

Find better / more ways to recognize your lower paid employee's. You should consider something like company sponsored picnics, with team building exercises.

    Pros

Great people to work with everyday, like family. Pay was as expected. Great location in Seattle, paid bus passes. Will miss working there, merged with Brookdale Senior Living

    Cons

Management wasn't trained, some managers were not experienced.

    Advice to Management

make sure the person being promoted to a management position has the tools.

    Pros

Setting Up Dining Room Tables, Bussing Tables, Serving Beverages, Taking Orders, Vacumning Floors, Checking On a Resident, and Taking Out Garbage

    Cons

Oswego Springs was too inconvenient from my House and I had to drive all the way across town to get all the way over there.

    Advice to Management

I would like to find Senior Home Care Assistant Living Facilities that are closer to where I like such as East Multnomah County, and/or North Clackamas County.

I have been working at Emeritus Senior Living full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing positive and laid back environment/culture, Free food and drinks regularly (stocked fridges) managers tried to take care of employees, provided regular, consistent feedback and even top level management had an open door policy.

Awesome coworkers, flexible schedule, monthly parties to celebrate birthdays, new hires and anniversaries, boozy Holiday party. Almost impossible to get fired. Some departments allowed dogs in the office.

    Cons

Too many employees didn't pull their weight and nothing was done. Other employees asked to pick up the slack but never ramifications for the lazy one. We had several in our department who clearly to advantage of the managers trust by disappearing for hours on end and then didn't get their work done.

Too hard to move up and around unless you've been there for several years. Low turnover in most departments so openings were few and far between. I regularly asked my boss for additional work that wasn't available because others with longer tenure had already taken the projects.

    Advice to Management

Shouldn't have merged. The employees loved working here and the environment you created.

    Cons

Some lye on those that do there work and its noone allowed to speak opinion except to their Supervisor and not worry about retaliation.

    Advice to Management

be true to all not just choosen ones, Learn a lesson of being fair from your RCS and I hope this doesn't get her fired.

    Cons

Emeritus is merging with Brookdale Senior Living so the majority of the Seattle presence is being eliminated.

I have been working at Emeritus Senior Living full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Health and family focused culture. I always had fun, felt supported and learned quite a bit. Upper management was approachable. Never felt and us vs. them mentality. Not a lot of turnover in upper management in my region at least, a lot of longevity. Their Join Their Journey Memory care approach is likely the best in the industry in my opinion.

    Cons

Some of their buildings are older and could use some extra $$ put into them. The company is huge so easy to get lost in the system if you allow it. Recent sale to Brookdale is disappointing. Lots of travel for trainings that could have been done via conf call or webinar, appeared to be wasteful.

    Advice to Management

    none
