I have been working at Emerson full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The rating is for Emerson as a company, but if I had to rate my group in Mohali, I would rate it a 2.

Good stable company. One of the best I've worked for in the last 13yrs of my career. They encourage employees to explore & learn. Lots of opportunities within the company. The company values hard work & sincerity.

Immediate leads & program managers are very knowledgeable & mature. Very helpful & they create a very cohesive friendly environment.

    Cons

Local mgmt - support functions are most inefficient. Recruitmemt being the worse. Super disorganized & always lying.

The group heads indulge in a lot of politics. Director of one of the largest groups in Mohali - has no respect for Emerson values, does not believe in work-life balance, simply lies to make things look good, does not handle people challenges directly & tries to falsify information. She is a micro manager and makes work environment difficult. But she has plenty of support from her local friends, the US mgmt & stays put. A lot of people are disgruntled. Quitting is the only way out.

Anything related to employee welfare is looked down upon...focus is only on operations at the expense of trust. But if team works directly with US mgmt, they are more empowered & better job satisfaction.

The whims of one individual have spoilt it for the rest. Our senior managers have hit a dead end & are genuinely unable to help the junior emloyees on many occassions.

    Advice to Management

Local mgmt - everything doesnt need to be casual. Exercise your authority & pull up support functions. With exception of L&D, they have no clue about day-to-day core operations. But they spend a lot of time in recreation activities.

PMO mgmt - listen to employees. Is it worth protecting one individual over 250 others?? Pay attention to the health of the teams. Please take employee feedback seriously.

I worked at Emerson full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good Work Environment
    Work Life Balance

    Cons

Poor Middle and Top Management. 60% are to be sent home. Useless people with little or no knowledge on market. Young team needed to survive and grow.

    Advice to Management

Stop Lying to employees. Behave like a professional. "Consider it done" needs a lot of attention to details for surviving and growing. Make it mandatory for employees to rate the supervisors and send the useless people home without any second opinion.
Please make sure you provide career for your employees from other companies and to the people you select from college. Suggestions need to be implemented across all the office ( even the acquired companies). Uniformity needed in the work culture and HR department should report only to head office and not to the regional team if you want to have better culture.

    Leave policies are quiet flexible

    Cons

    Low Pay
    Biased Management

    Advice to Management

Try paying more attention issues and solve them. Instead of avoiding them.
Favouritism is playing a dominating role in decision making, which is not right.
Remove overtime policy, because many managers force their subordinates to stay back, even when there is no work
