I have been working at Emerson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The facilities are nice and well maintained, coffee is free.

    Cons

The company needs to move into modern times. It does not seem like there is much work going on, just activity. Everyone defends their jobd, they are unwilling to help, and make it very difficult to actually get work done. Running people around in a circle brings joy to the more experienced employees. Management has the old school good old boy mentality.

    Advice to Management

You should not have to blame the weather for a drop on sales. Figure your business out.

    Cons

Acquired companies cold/hostile to each other - protecting turf, culture etc.
Managers severely lack people management skills.
    Very Dull/Boring people and environment

    Advice to Management

Do something to fix broken, disparate culture. Very unsatisfying work environment.

    Pros

Great work life balance. They work around your schedule if you have other priorities like family.

    Cons

No more 401K matching at Daniel. No 9/80's and horrible health insurance. You are not asked anything about your department. HR and Senior Management runs the show. HR for Daniel Flow cannot be trusted and protects their drinking buddies at all expense. No growth. Ask employees to take surveys and does nothing about it.

    Advice to Management

Actually listen to your employees and change the HR team so that they are fair for all. Stop making excuses for your management team.

    Pros

It's a recession resistant industry. If times are good companies buy new equipment. If times are bad companies will buy service contracts.

    Cons

Company allowed manning to fall below the current employees' ability to meet contractual obligations. The result is poor quality of life for the employees.

    Advice to Management

Do not allow manning to fall so low.

I worked at Emerson full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay and variety of work for technicians.

    Cons

No training. Senior technicians have minimal skills to keep their jobs, and make sure that any new employee is kept from being a challenge to their laziness by not training. I'll write it again - NO TRAINING.

    Advice to Management

Take your job seriously, try to take care of all your employees. When new employees come to you, and say that are not receiving job training, correct that issue. This will require you to take responsibility, and get over your fear of confronting your senior technicians.

I have been working at Emerson full-time

    Pros

No Positives to share about this company. There used to be some things everyone liked about this company, but those days are behind us now.

    Cons

This company is being managed by the HR department. They are forever getting complaints about small minor things and they choose to launch secret investigations. When they talk to people during their investigations the employees are all intimidated to keep this a secret. This company is being run from the top down approach. This company has more Vice Presidents than it does managers. This company is used as an executive training ground for Emerson. This philosophy has allowed many different executive trainees to mismanage the company to the point where all manufacturing is in the process being moved to Mexico and Romania.

    Advice to Management

Try asking and then listening to the employees.
