    Pros

There are lots of opportunities to pursue your interests. The company is stable with a good reputation amongst its peers.

    Cons

It is a very large corporation which often makes it challenging to get things accomplished.

    Advice to Management

Empower your employees to make decisions. A lot of time gets wasted due to lack of authority from employees.

    Pros

Excellent freedom of schedule (your schedule is mostly planned by you). The work is not boring (many different sites and customers).

    Cons

The management is a bit out of touch with the technicians/job sites. They look too deeply into productivity numbers without actually understanding what they really indicate or what it is like to work in a specific area (especially true for large cities like L.A., N.Y., S.F., etc.).

    Advice to Management

Try to get more information from the field workers rather than looking at stats and numbers.

    Pros

The respect and full support of management for your efforts. In slow economy sales numbers aren't the only thing, this company understands the situation.

    Cons

Compensation plan is middle of the road. Fair plan, not as high as some but risk is balanced.

    Advice to Management

Continue to recognize that employees got us here.

    Pros

The future outlook on the company is strong and stable. The opportunities for growth and advancement are apparent and encouraged. The quality of leadership on a local level is very strong. Employee salaries are competitive with the market.

    Cons

It's hard to identify the cons but I would have to say that the fact that we are a lean organization creates a more challenging environment than perhaps others may experience. Overall, this means even more opportunity to get involved in several areas of the company.

    Advice to Management

Overall I am very pleased with my experience in working for Emerson Process Management's Valve Automation division and I appreciate the future direction established.

    Pros

The people are incredibly smart, friendly, and driven. The company takes great care of its employees, offering everything from on-site massages to a good cafeteria to free counseling sessions.

    Cons

Well, I do have to walk from one building to another a few times a day, and the sun is really bright... That's really the worst of it.
