I worked at Emerson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Serial Access (Network Power) division had potential and was located in the heart of silicon valley.

    Cons

Leadership does not have the vision nor the "Technology" expertise that would put this (Network Power) division on a path to success.

    Advice to Management

Time to hire "Hi Tech" oriented leaders. Decision makers with an "Industrial " mindset and background are in the wrong domain.

    I worked at Emerson full-time

    Pros

    Good promotion opportunities
    Exposure to international travel

    Cons

Low flexibility to work from home or additional benefits
Lower packages compared to peer group- compensation was for one level lower- a manager at Emerson would earn as a Team lead elsewhere

    Advice to Management

accept work from home as a practice

    Pros

I worked at Emerson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The many breaks they had are awesome, some of the co-workers are friendly. The on-site assignments are challenging and engaging. Parking is vast and entering the facility is no problem as long as you got your badge handy.

    Cons

Temp agency I sign up with tend to be rude and unprofessional at time. Supervisor tend to pick favors, lunch lady is not friendly, a lot of the other co-workers doesn't know the meaning of teamwork which means they usually don't help you if you fall behind on work unless it affect them. Work station tend to have lots of issues, either machine tend to breaks down ever few hours, printer not working, loader not loading, forklift worker failed to pick-up ready to ship orders which cause major space shortage in the warehouse area. Also too many hidden assembly instruction that were either not updated in the work instruction or were updated but failed to point out to the co-workers thus causing major product slowdown or rework.

    Advice to Management

Please know to update your work instruction if new steps are added and be sure to let all co-workers be aware of those. If a co-worker point out major work slowdown issues due to work station defects or problems, do pay attention and work to find a solution to fix that asap. Don't force co-workers to work using defective work station as those will cause quality issue and add more hiccups to rework.

I worked at Emerson full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

"Workers" want to get the customer taken care of and product out the door. Team atmosphere in that respect.

    Great products and technology.

    Cons

HR is the worst I have witnessed of all the business units I have been associated with.

Product line move was not well planned.

Most Directors and VPs are more concerned about checking off boxes than improving the actual process. Is the process really the issue??

There is a cost for quality and DMC is seeing this negatively through the volume of RMAs. It can't always be about the lowest cost suppliers.

Constant battle between manufacturing and sales, due to missed deliveries.

    Advice to Management

Replace the HR personnel with individuals that are not concerned about petty issues.

Hold employees that are not performing accountable and recognize those employees that are performing.

Spend a little more for quality parts.
