    Pros

Relaxed, safe, and stable environment. Good benefits. There is a constant workflow. As an intern, there was always help when needed.

    Cons

The vacation time accrues very slowly. There is little to nothing in the line of sick days. The work can become tedious.

I have been working at Emerson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good fringe benefits (on campus gym - free), medical center and subsidized cafeteria

    Cons

Antiquated work environment, vacation policy, and lack of flexible work scheduling.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to have more 21st century mindset. Lack of flexibility hurts innovation and deters talent.

I have been working at Emerson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The facilities are nice and well maintained, coffee is free.

    Cons

The company needs to move into modern times. It does not seem like there is much work going on, just activity. Everyone defends their jobd, they are unwilling to help, and make it very difficult to actually get work done. Running people around in a circle brings joy to the more experienced employees. Management has the old school good old boy mentality.

    Advice to Management

You should not have to blame the weather for a drop on sales. Figure your business out.

I have been working at Emerson full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent Pay, Good Benefits, Stability. People that I work with are professional and intelligent. Many people have left or retired and that has brought in fresh blood which has been a major improvement.

    Cons

Good ole boys club. Retiring management should have no say in who their replacement will be. Very few women or minorities in upper management. Performance Reviews are substandard.

I worked at Emerson (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good work life balance, adequate vacation, emphasis on safe work practices, okay 401k plan, occasional charity and team building events sponsored by company, some career development opportunities

    Cons

Usual corporate red tape: lots of cubicles, hard to navigate corporate hierarchy, lots of meetings, company is always concerned about making dividend payments to shareholders

    Advice to Management

Stop being so corporate and let employees do their jobs

I have been working at Emerson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You work with very intelligent people, Managers are very easy going and understand real life happens, great potential for career advancement if you continue your education and work hard.

    Cons

Benefits are lacking, especially Vacation Days and Health Coverage. Training is non-existent and resources are minimal at times. You have to drive to Ferguson Mo to work at the Corporate Headquarters.

    Advice to Management

Long Term the company will need to get more competitive in benefits if it wants to retain talent. This is a Boys Club company if ever there was one, and no paternal leave for certain business units in the company prove that. Poor Benefits will be the downfall of Emerson because they will have a harder and harder time retaining good employees when there is unlimited vacation and great health benefits with the employers they are competing with.
