    Pros

Once you are in and ready to work in the same role forever you can retire in this bank. It is the largest bank in Dubai. Your job will be safe.

    Cons

You need to be Emirati or Indian to progress in your career at this bank. The bank is full of paradoxes. On the one hand it wants to the be the most digitally advanced bank in the region, on the other hand it has a very hierarchical old-school culture that kills individual drive and autonomy. While senior executives visit Silicon Valley to learn how to emulate tech companies and live in their bubble kingdom, the workforce works in poor office spaces and eats in dirty, smelly cafeterias. While well-behaving colorless political yes-men prosper through building relationships and obedience, people with drive and vision get kicked out the organization. HR function is very weak. There is no career planning, job rotation, mobility etc unless you are an Emirati. R-grade and above live in a different world and treat the rest of the bank like low-grade slaves.

    Advice to Management

Start with sending all senior managers and executives to a leadership training. Office environment is important. Bring some color and style to the office spaces. Keep the toilettes clean. Those in Al Barsha and Emirates Islamic are in worse condition than those in bus stations in India.

    Pros

1- A brand that allows you to innovate and think outside the box.
    2- Great working environment.
    3- Great work life balance

    Cons

1- Lots of protocols and bureaucracy.
2- UAE nationals are preferred over expats for job promotions and benefits. Great if you're a UAE national, but you might want to explore a career in the private sector for better growth if you're an expat.

    Advice to Management

Invest in those who want to grow.
