I worked at Emirates full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Great discounts, decent retail hours, and you can usually get one weekend off per month. Pay is pretty decent but you have to negotiate good from the beginning.

    Cons

Slow workplace that can easily become a toxic environment. Rude management. In many ways you will feel micro-managed. The pay is decent but the benefits aren't the best. Too many black-out dates. No real work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees how you would want to be treated. Criticize in private and congratulate in public. Most employees feel overworked and extremely unappreciated. Moral effects momentum.

    Pros

    Cons

Must live in Dubai. Its Vegas on steroids with a dash of Sharia. Its a toss up on where your accommodation will be and who you are roomed with. No control or choice over this matter. an be a luxury high rise in the city or a rat hole prison complex in the middle of the desert with no real access to the outside world. Zero compassion when it comes to bereavement. If someone in your family dies, they will deny you to go...

    Advice to Management

Get to know your crew. Show some compassion. And for gods sake, when someone is bereaved, let them mourn and go back home to say goodbye to their loved ones instead of punishing your employees for having a human experience. Until you are able to replace your entire cabin crew teams with robots, show some compassion. We now live in a world where companies far and wide are becoming more transparent and there are outlets...

    I worked at Emirates full-time

    Pros

If you are looking for just a pay check then this is the place to be ..

    Cons

If you are looking to grow in your career , advance , learn and become a good Aircraft Technician then this place will ruin your career . The respect for A&P is close to nothing and FAA technicians are considered useless.

    Advice to Management

    Investment in employee.

I have been working at Emirates

    Pros

Great people who are motivated and smart. People who work here, truly do like the people they work and what the company stands for. The Company's mission is incredible. Great location near Central Park.

    Cons

Can focus more on employee benefits, promoting within and paying that employee what they would have if they hired from the outside or the max %. Create an environment that foster growth and creativity. More improvement to create opportunities to move to the next level. Foster team spirit and equality between Managers and their staff.

    Advice to Management

Managers feel they can do whatever they like, follow the rules when they feel adequate. Their staff work hard and diligent however some Managers can be insensitive and enforce policy when they themselves do not follow through on their own. More opportunities to promote within with fair salary upgrade. Promote team spirit and management should make this a KPI

I worked at Emirates full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Great co-workers, getting opportunity to work on the A380 and B777 aircraft. Eye catcher on a resume. Global exposure and eye on a part of aviation that few get a chance to experience...especially if you are USA based. Company has great benefits, however salaries are inconsistent and shockingly low for maintenance.

      Cons

From day 1 being subjected to a threatening, degrading, and an extremely unprofessional workplace. Experienced age and ethnic discrimination during my time there. Favoritism is rampant. Management will pounce on you any opportunity they get to humiliate, and use it against you when it comes time for the annual "Performance Matters" Review. Keep in mind it does affect your raises and standing in the company. They...

      Advice to Management

Get new management, period. Dubai HQ really needs to investigate further why there is such a high turnover rate with well qualified, experienced technicians coming and going through the revolving door at JFK. Local Engineering management has developed a very negative reputation amongst the aviation-maintenance community in the NYC metro area, which is reflecting poorly of the company, and also their discriminatory practices...
