I have been working at Emirates full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some amazing people, Truly blessed there. A beautiful business model Ambition: and a hunger to be number one. The Chairman. Intertwined with the future of Dubai. Flight benefits -- travel the world (on standby) Some departments have great work-life balance and you can switch off your work cellphone at half past three

    Cons

Lots of bureaucracy and red tape Insane planning/budgeting process Small changes take forever, but huge restructurings happen every couple of years leaving the population in shock. A lot of people that have moved here to retire and have stopped growing a decade ago. A lot of unqualified people that are insecure and threatened by the new guard. The flight benefits can only make up for the lower pay if you really travel...

    Advice to Management

Too much fear of making mistakes and being blacklisted from future opportunities Create a safer work environment, but hold people accountable through a focus on results Too much CYA as a result of this fear There is so much wasted effort on things that don't contribute or shadow deliveries Teach people that it is ok to fail, but emphasize failing quickly and learning from mistakes Focus on initiatives that can move...

I worked at Emirates full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Emirates has a competitive salary package along with other benefits like travel, discounts all over U.A.E, health insurance etc. The work/life balance and cultural values are also prioritized in the organisation

    Cons

Emirates has certain negative aspects like high level politics, slow career growth, too much control by senior management, lack of innovation

    Advice to Management

Annual reviews should be taken more seriously and employees should be given the deserving raise/ benefits. Local Inflation should be considered while giving annual raise and other increments.

    I worked at Emirates

    Pros

    - work-life balance - good pay - growth opportunities

    Cons

    - biased employee selections. Sometimes when jobs are posted HR already knows who will be selected, still make the others go through the painful process, to show that its a fair competition - HR is incompetetive - some dept have a lot of office politics, people at mgmt level try to bring in their family and friends

    Advice to Management

You are big because of your people, help them to help yourself. Don’t be biased to south asian and African nationalities. Don’t be racist in the pay structure.

    I worked at Emirates

    Pros

travel benefits and annual leave living in dubai good hub to travel the world excellent opportunity to work with colleagues from all around the world supportive managers mostly

    Cons

Overwork in certain positions, poor work life balance low salaries compared to the market lack of management capabilities in certain departments and inefficiencies. Some departments backwards compared to home country very bureaucratic, can be frustrating getting things done at time, but this is not unique to Emirates and is a frustration living in Dubai on the whole

    Advice to Management

Invest more in building leadership capabilities and better recruitment practices Better work life balance Review basic salaries of staff

I have been working at Emirates full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

never a dull moment, constant change, always waiting for the next big thing. Benefits including generous leave are good from junior management grades upwards especially if you are married with children. Basic salaries as with most travel and transport companies/organizations are not as competitive as some other industries. Inflation levels in Dubai have shaved meant off the real value of some benefits such as accommodation,...

    Cons

Unlike global multi nationals there is no clear cut path to growth and development. As in any rapidly growing company there are however many opportunities to move upwards in certain departments. In others you could end up staying in the same position for years until a suitable vacancy comes up. Work Life balance is good but can be improved with progressive approach to managing and measuring productivity.

    Advice to Management

Strong leadership inspires confidence but the organization needs to live up to the values of being progressive and innovative from an internal perspective and not just externally. Don’t follow the norms such as maternity leave allowances, working from home, flex time. Take a leadership stance when it comes to managing productivity and employee welfare. Don’t be afraid to pilot new ideas. Emirates needs to retain and...

I have been working at Emirates full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Good work life balance, good flight benefits, great brand

      Cons

Brand promise is not fulfilled internally. Too many mediocre co-workers, many of whom have been there for years. Many departments lack vision and innovation. Generally low pay; well below market rates.

      Advice to Management

Instill a high performance culture, ensure there are consequences for poor performance, pay more, start to value ability more than long service.
