The Emory Clinic - Revenue Cycle Operations
Jun 12, 2019 - Manager in Decatur, GARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The benefits are good, especially the health insurance and the PTO accrual rate, when compared to similar employers in the Atlanta metro area. Staff are not held to an incredibly high standard, so it's relatively easy to do little work with no negative repercussions.
Cons
Relatively lower pay when compared to similar roles at competitor institutions in the Atlanta metro area. Some of the long term employees seem to be just 'riding the train to retirement' and not making significant contributions to the mission or business operations. Incompetent leaders are simply allowed to turn over their entire staff or are moved to a different area rather than coached out the door. Exit interviews take place, but there is no evidence that any meaningful changes are instituted based on the feedback.

Pros
None - this is a typical hospital environment.
Cons
There needs to be a major market adjustment for all employees for pay. Emory Healthcare is losing employees left and right because of failure to compensate. It is common for tenured employees to complain about their pay and small merit increases. There are minimal opportunities for advancement.

Expensive benefits poor management
Oct 25, 2017 - Medical Technologist in Atlanta, GARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Beautiful campus with college campus adjacent to the hospital Unlimited overtime Lots of food options close to campus Some competent co workers
Cons
Short staffing most departments especially in the Blood Bank. Management does not fight for critical staffing pay and makes employees work without help if someone calls off. Low pay Expensive benefits

Great place to learn about operations

Cons
the internship was unpaid (expected) but I needed to pay additional money to fulfill their immunization requirements ($100-200)

Better than a lot of other hospitals, but lower pay for the name
Nov 1, 2022 - Registered Nurse in Atlanta, GARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
University Hospital so more opportunities to get involved in projects etc.
Cons
Lower pay on average because you are getting the 'Emory' name on your resume.

Pros
Meets retirement goals and promotes education.
Cons
More concentration on money than health. Employees overworked due to shortage of workers, no overtime policies due to employers trying to save money. Employees pay very low (not on same level as others in the metropolitan area. Moral very low. Would not recommend to adults trying to take care of a family or building for the future. Damn shame..

Supportive Staff and Great Benefits, but Pay is Lacking
Sep 28, 2022 - Registered Nurse, BSN in Atlanta, GARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I have worked for Emory for 6 years and overall it is a great place to work. I get a decent amount of PTO, health insurance is comparable to other facilities in the Atlanta area, and leadership is very supportive.
Cons
Pay isn't great and they pay external candidates better than they pay internal candidates who are promoted which I think is unfair.

My experience as an employee at EHC
Sep 16, 2021 - Imaging Workflow Specialist in Atlanta, GARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Decent benefits - Fun employee activities - Employee recognition is observed - Parking is provided - Many resources provided for personal & career growth - Very diverse regarding employment practices - Adequate provision of dining/snacking areas
Cons
Not enough training provided within certain departments - Better housekeeping is needed in certain areas of the facilities - Better choices could be made for supervisory/management positions - The pay is not commensurate with the increase in real estate values in the Metro area
