    Pros

    None, stay far away.

    Cons

Management does not care about the nurses on the front line working with the dying. They don't offer support, regular pay for working holidays, you must work holidays. Manage foes not care, there attitude is... If you don't like it there's the door. These are actual words from a manager yet they want the staff to pour everything into the organization. Absolutely disgusting.

I worked at Empath Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay. Love helping people and really love the job but leadership makes this job the impossible dream.

    Cons

Admissions is not a good department. Low staffed, rude clinical coordinators who expect the impossible be done with very low number of staff. Treated like slaves, micromanaged like you are a kindergartener. Not treated like professional adults. No work, life balance. Employees are belittled and made fun of when they ask questions that even the clinical coordinators have no idea of the answers. The higher ups don’t care about the employees either. They tell you that you are salary and have no respect for your off time. Expect you to work over your time for zero pay.
No support in this stressful job. My god, you are dealing with death and dying and they want you to sell Hospice to everyone. If patients or families refuse Hospice services and you report to the clinical coordinators they ask like you did something wrong and you get the third degree on why you don’t sell Hospice. So low staffed you cannot even take your vacation time that you earned. Only way to get a day off is to call in sick. Morale is at an all time low and all they care about is numbers!
Avoid this department at all costs.
If there is a failure anywhere in the admission process the clinical coordinators treat the nurse as they did something wrong, mean and nasty and accusing without knowing the full story.

    Advice to Management

Treat your nurses with kindness and respect. Get off your chair and get in the field and learn how to do admissions yourself. Stand behind your staff, praise them, treat them like the ADULTS they are. Show some respect and EMPATHY for them. We are not robots or machines. This job is not easy. Praise them when things go good and not just yell at them when something doesn’t go right. When there is a complaint, don’t assume the nurse did wrong and talk meanly to them. Stand up for your staff, have their backs. For god’s sake offer more money for working over their shift. Have respect for them if they or family is sick or need them and they cannot work. Hire more staff! They are professionals and need to be treated as such!

Make it a job they love!
    Treat them well, reward them!
    Focus on the positives....
so sad that admissions has been run into the ground and no one stays working there, that actually gives a damn about the patients and families .... there are a few but the leadership cares nothing about patients, families or their nurses..... all they care about is numbers and $$$$$$$$$$$$$.....definitely not the Hospice I started working for when Mary was alive!

I have been working at Empath Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The salary is good. The mission is good and they do alot for the community as a whole. Great doctors!

    Cons

Management have no EMPATHY! Workers are treated like slaves. You do t k ow what you are really getting into as what they say in the interview is totally different than the job you are required to do. The admission managers are rude and uncaring. You work 50 to 60 hours with no overtime. If you break the salary down into the hours worked you are making way less money than you should as an RN. No paid holidays at all. You have to use PTO for everything and getting a day off is a joke. Only 2 nurses can be off a day. The orientation to the company is great, but the orientation for your actual position is seriously lacking. Gas mileage pay is a joke. They dont give you anything extra at all u less you drive to the office first, but if you do go to the office you get told to stop coming to the office everyday. Empath Health is the worst company ever to work for. At least in the Admissions Department. HR is no help and do not back up the employees.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach and back up the employees when they ask for help, instead of saying " its not my problem".
