Pros

Your co-workers are great! The company fosters healthy competition for prizes between servicing teams.Good benefits package and bonus pay.

Cons

You have to become a company slave to meet all those aggressive goals to get max pay. You have to work at least 50 to 60 hrs per week to meet your goals. They may say full-time can equal between 32-40hrs/wk. But don't be fooled. If your not working 50+. you will not make your goals and eventually you will be terminated for poor performance. Vacation is approved by seniority and team needs. You have to work around them before any time off is approved. Advancement to other jobs is more about who you know and if you are liked then about your skills and experience. Finally, I was told that 21st Mortgage was a different kind of collections company. In the end, it all boils down to when the customer can make the payment. All these ficticious programs and payment plans to make it seem we are helping the customer is bogus. I have heard some TL's really be nasty with people just to recover a couple of months of past due mortgage payments.

Advice to Management

Invest in more training for financial counselors. That training should also include a class on ettiquette.

    Pros

Great place to get some serious "real world' experience. Mostly recent college grad age people so work environment was usually laid back. Turnover is crazy. Company does a pretty good job with the little things that keep you happy throughout the day.

    Cons

Somebody has to do this kind of job, but the truth of the position is just horrible work. It takes a certian kind of person to be able to be successful at it and ok with themselves. It's a constant grind and battle with the same people and it wears on you. I lost sleep over it and don't miss the job one bit.

    Advice to Management

Given the nature of the business, the company does a great job making it workable. Without their effort to make the work environment so good most people wouldn't stay near as long as they do. Changes from high up don't filter down fast enough though, and the ones dealing with the customers pay for it. Training is decent, but nobody hits the floor nearly prepared enough for what they face on the phones.
