"Membership Counselor. If you can sell go elsewhere. You won't get rewarded here."

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free gym membership. Meeting new people. Learning true science to dieting and exercise. Management and co-workers are friendly.

    Cons

No commission. Lot's of cold calling. Unrealistic sales targets. Seniority take the people most likely to have money and leave you selling to the 15 year old college kid with no money. Full time hours soon drop down due to not hitting targets or budget cuts.

    Advice to Management

Stop the unrealistic sales targets. If theres no reward for selling your services how do you expect people to have the drive to bring in the numbers. Bring back commission or increase wages to at least $15 per hour. Stop the cold calling, it doesn't work and its the quickest way to lose guests.

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    fun, engaging atmosphere
great way to be engaged within your community
    ever changing environment
great for those who want to lead, manage, and grow with a solid company

    Cons

entry level, young staff - must continue to motivate and encourage
entry level pay for staff is low, unless you are a PT
club management position (my position) makes for long hours 10+ per day

    Advice to Management

District managers in Houston, Texas (only place I worked) need to show better support to club management staff during times of uncertainty. I lost my job after another employee admitted to falsifying documents that he turned into me. This was my first major offense in 12 years! no warning, no coaching, no documentation.
