I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Going to work here was fun. Everyone was young at heart and there was a big focus on employee satisfaction. We were encourage to take a long lunch in order to work out. This made it less difficult to work long hours when needed.

Cons

Some of the upper management didn't seem qualified to run a large corporation.

Advice to Management

None, I was happy with it.

    Pros

    -Fun place to work
    -great for networking
-learn how to run a business first hand
While I was there, I met some amazing people and developed great friendships. I also learned so much about sales and how to implement processes to run a business efficiently.

    Cons

-The pay. You cant have a hardcore sales structure on a low hourly wage
-Too many politics. The higher you go up in management the more it feels like high school with cliques, etc
-department heads have very little wiggle room to manage

    Advice to Management

The few d-bags that hated working are no longer there and for good reasons. All other management has done great.

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is a lot of room to move up the corporate ladder or move laterally and gain experience in the fitness industry. It is an organized environment and you can learn a lot from the experience if you really apply yourself.

    Cons

It takes quite a bit of time before you can make a decent paycheck. The company is fine with having most of its employees being low-paid students or entry level workers.

    Advice to Management

The business model is working as is proven by the success and growth of the company. Individual gyms will stand out only if the "ownership" and "community" values are instilled into each employee by those managing them.
