Pros

Hard working people in the stores.
Good people in the office to work with.
Getting paid every week.
Potential……

Cons

Management....top leadership is really lacking.
Very little in terms of communication or direction.
Dysfunctional
They do not understand performance management or how to train and develop talent. If you meet someone at the company with good skill sets, they acquired those skills from somewhere else.
High turnover. They do not track it.
Clear objectives are tough to come by for performance reviews.
You will likely not grow professionally.
Short sighted in decision making for both people and the business in general. Poor use of resources.

Advice to Management

Wow not sure where to start.
I would love to see the people working there give the VP level and above a 360 review. I imagine that it would suggest to start over. That would be a good first step.

I have been working at 99 Cents Only part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Easy job.
    Other employees are helpful.

    Cons

THe employees here aren't treated. that nice. There's no incentive to preform your very best. No "great job today," from the managers not even a "hi." I'm used to management/employee friendly relationships; not being ignored when I don't need help. I've got 2 new job interviews with different companies this week. Am ready to quit this place after only working for two weeks.

    Advice to Management

Change the way you train your managers. Treat floor staff and cashiers with the respect they deserve.

I worked at 99 Cents Only full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get motivated to find a better job asap.
You learn a lot about California Labor Code (special attention to breaks/meal periods, mileage reimbursement, overtime and such).
You become quite handy when you fix the company's property.
You get paid like you've never been paid before.
Minimal (if any) raises help you to live a humble life in today's consumer-driven world.
Your achievements and leadership are nothing comparing to your friendship with boss (friends matter kinda thing).

    Cons

Cons? What are you talking about?

    Advice to Management

    Good luck!
