I worked at Aéropostale full-time (More than a year)

Pros

-good discount,most stores do not force you to wear Aero clothing
-company is based on great values
-the store rally's held during peak seasons are pretty awesome
-meeting nice co workers that turn into lifelong friends

Cons

-company is not overly concerned about your work life balance
-holidays are stressful at this retailer and payroll seems to be an issue every year
-every year corporate expects more of you, while giving you less payroll and more tasks
-bonus plans are almost unreachable, they lure you in by telling you you have so much opportunity to make tons more money thru bonuses yet they make the goals so high that you can literally go for AN ENTIRE year without making one
-Executives sometimes play favorites, they allow some managers to close only one night a week, while others close
-company is full of smiles, but are they sincere?executives pretend to care about your personal life YET they make you open earlier every year on holidays, give you tons of black out dates for vacation and expect you to work 10 hour days and do not care about morale

Advice to Management

-district managers should be held more accountable by regional managers
-district managers should keep their word on consistent management schedules, it is unfair to other members of management to have poor work life balance when their bosses have a great schedule

    Pros

    Great benefits for employees, great company

    Cons

    Customer base varies dramatically among stores. It makes if very dificult to stay engaged when the customer wants nothing to do with you and has no respect for you or your product. This experience is not always this bad in other malls. Advancement is great if you have someone in your corner.

    Advice to Management

    Promoting within the same store can be very difficult for the peers who are not subordinants. Make sure you take time to engage all staff. Don't play favorites because it is very disengaging.

    There are really no done that I can think of other than the interview process took a while because she's doing a background check
