I have been working at Aéropostale part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Managers are direct in what your responsibilities are. Managers are very easy to talk to and open to all questions. Real world experience throughout the internship.

Cons

I honestly do not have any cons because the internship has been great. Everyone is respectful and makes the environment awesome to work in.

    Pros

You are paid much higher than other retailers.
    You get great discounts.
You work with a lot of cool people

    Cons

Currently, the company is trying to switch to a fashion forward retailer. This isn't really resonating with it's customers. Therefore, they are trying to go back to putting out clearance items which isn't in line with their fashion forward thinking. This is not only confusing for the workers, but is losing them a lot of money. Unlike American Eagle and ANF/Hollister, Aero has no idea what kind of retailer they want to be.

They company constantly sends stores boxes and boxes of shipment every week, even though the entire company is not meeting their sales goals, meaning you have tons of merchandise that is piling up in your backroom, with no where to go. And you do floorsets every month (sometimes every 3 weeks), and you literally have to take off the old merchandise, put it in a box, and put out the new merchandise, because your store is so small.

I have worked for multiple retailers before and after Aero, and this company has by far the worst LP procedures that I have ever seen. If someone comes up to you with a piece of clothing that has a sensor on it, you are not allowed to ask for a receipt, because Aero says that's treating a customer rudely. I have personally seen people put things into their bag but was not allowed to approach them. If you work here, you will get multiple people bringing back items without a receipt that are stolen, because they have sensor wholes in them, but the company still forces you to return them.

    Advice to Management

As much as people seem to hate on Abercrombie and Fitch, they are much more structured and intelligent than Aero. You guys need to stop being so inconsistent with your sales and what image you are trying to portray to a customer.
