I have been working at AARP full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

- Nice benefits, 3 weeks of vacation to start
- Great mission, can feel good about work you're doing
- Nice offices, nice location with lots of restaurants
- Great cafeteria

Cons

- No innovation, employees have been their for a long time and want to do things the same way
- Everyone gets incentive bonus regardless of performance
- Seem afraid to let anyone go, no one ever gets fired so good people leave and they're stuck with incompetence
- If you stay too long, you get "institutionalized" and it's hard to leave
- Business model won't survive, do too many programs mediocre instead of a couple programs well

Advice to Management

Brand is muddied by too many campaigns. And so much money is wasted developing new campaigns every three to six months which probably just confuses audience and membership. Get rid of dead weight -- people have been there too long and don't contribute.

I have been working at AARP part-time (Less than a year)

I can still look for full time work while making a few dollars. I have weekends offf and can basically set my own hours Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.

    Cons

Not enough money and no benefits.

    Advice to Management

This position could use more time at work searches and more contacts with potential full time employers.
