I have been working at AARP full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Great benefits, location, co-workers, and mission - working with people driven to help others is always uplifting - but they're not all bleeding hearts, and quite fun!

Cons

Group decision-making stalls/delays objectives - or random high-level decisions don't make sense but must be implemented anyway. Lots of internal operations that don't always make sense. Also - issues w/ accountability in some staff/departments.

Advice to Management

Minimize internal politics and make operations/functionality a priority, as well as accountability.

I worked at AARP as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Generous pay, fair and understanding bosses who were always available and supportive, happy, friendly, supportive staff, small office with nice office culture.

    Cons

My only personal downside was that it was a predetermined 6 month internship and I wish I could have stayed with the company longer, but it was time for another student intern to get a chance.

    Advice to Management

I have none, management was great.
