Pros

They are nation wide, you can find a job just about anywhere, and they offer a variety of related services.

Cons

Poor relations between management/supervisors and labor.Training is almost non-existent,communication and support from superiors to labor is poor at best.Management/supervisors ignore suggestions and concerns from labor employees. No benefits, low pay.

Advice to Management

Interact with the general labor more ,show them some respect. We are all on the same team, without one there is no other.

    Pros

Uniform provided, easy job, direct deposit, if you don't have a criminal record and pass a drug test you're pretty much guaranteed to get hired.

    Cons

Pay is lousy, meaning it's embarrassing to say what you make out loud even to yourself. Communication is horrific, staff will fail to show up for their shift because they are not aware they have been scheduled. Arbitrary decisions constantly due to lack of documented procedure. Management forever sends out memos that nobody looks at. The lack of professionalism is cringeworthy. Turnover is out of control.

    Advice to Management

Step up and pay a living wage to your staff so more qualified candidates can be hired. Look for ex-military or ex-law enforcement with a modicum of professionalism. Offer a 401k and a minimedical insurance plan. Get some actual documentation stating what an officer can or can't do. Boldly leap into technology circa 1993 (at least) and allow for use of a computer. Give officers some real power instead of constantly having to contact the supervisor on all matters. If this is impossible look for older candidates with a work ethic who are running out the clock to retirement. Quit the paradoxical strategy of glorifying the job for more than it is while simultaneously telling your staff they don't matter. ABM provides contracted unarmed security guards. It ain't rocket science. The job is made much harder than it has to be.
