Advice to Management

Look further forward. You created the broker quote dashboard with a pricing model that was doomed to fail. Everyone in creation started provided free broker data and you were charging hundreds of dollars per month. A bunch of developers committed themselves to project, but then you killed. You should have had a better idea to start with instead of letting us developers think we had a future with you. This was back in 96-98.

    Pros

    The training you receive going into the position.

    Cons

    The Chicago Loop office is HORRIBLE. Management implements new practices every week and never follows up on them. Managers don't provide valid feedback when asked. The office is toxic. I have never been in a more High School drama like environment in my life. All they care about is numbers, they don't want to develop talent. At the end of each fiscal year, if you aren't at plan, you're fired. What a horrible experience.

    Advice to Management

    Learn to appreciate your employees.
    Develop talent.
    Provide valid feedback.
    Follow-up on your new processes that you implement.
    Don't put so much stress and pressure on your employees.

    Pros

    Great atmosphere, very professional and respectful management. Really great place to work. Benifits are good, it's a big company so they have a lot to offer like, tuition assistance, and lots of training.

    Cons

    Too much structure can also be a bad thing. Everything is looked it and everything has to be done in a very specific way.

    Advice to Management

    Downsize. Way too much management. Seems like there's way too many management positions and not enough of actual "employees". At times we have lots and lots of calls, and work volume, Lots of Managers tryiing to make things better, and not enough employees to actually do the work.
